True…All you need is a phone and a book who will take your plays.
Damn… has this fool ever heard of a parlay…?
If he was smart, we know he’s not because he’s at Tech, he would’ve followed @RezClone during college basketball season.
Rez should’ve been selling him the confident corn lock of the week for years now!
You can bet in Texas on the internet web sites like FanDuel. They advertise it on the radio stations. It is terrible what they allow today. And if you are wondering about the number of bets, just listening to the radio advertisment, you can bet on just about anything down to a play.
No, you cannot use FanDuel for sports betting in Texas, as it is not legal in the state.
Yeah, the reports I’ve seen indicate that he was betting on things within baseball games like whether the next pitch would be a ball or a strike.
Crazy part to me is how they suck in folks with ridiculous parlays — like 12-leg parlays that all have to hit to get a payout.
Truth.
“Parlays are generally not worth it for long-term profit because the house edge compounds with every leg added, making them high-risk wagers that favor sportsbooks. While offering high payouts, a single losing leg ruins the entire bet, leading to frequent losses and rapid bankroll depletion. They are best used sparingly for entertainment”. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Can play Fantasy Sports leagues and other non-monetary features on apps but cannot place a sports wager in Texas. Folks use a VPN to get around the geo-location restrictions.
You know, he can win it back…just give him a little more time.
You are correct, my bad. I guess they were only talking about fantasy league things on the radio. Shows you how much I spend on gambling.
Awhile back ESPN Bet was doing alot of advertisement so I tried it, but it didn’t work bc I’m in Texas.
They have some application that yoù have to run that lets them know you are using a vpn
Would any NFL team want somebody that has bet on their own team?
We’ve seen this movie before. The star was Art Schlichter
During his college career, Schlichter was frequently spotted at Scioto Downs with a prominent Ohio gambler. Although the Columbus and OSU police departments became suspicious, the athletic department felt it lacked enough evidence to notify the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).[8] Schlichter turned his attention from horses to sports betting by his junior year at OSU; by the end of that year he had lost thousands of dollars gambling on college and professional sports.[1][2] On several occasions he was seen at Scioto Downs with Hayes’ successor as head coach, Earle Bruce, a fact which helped cover up early problems emerging while Schlichter was at OSU.[3
And the Baseball HOF has not inducted the “Greatest” hitter of all time because he bet on his own team.
Schlichter was the first person I thought of when reading about Sorsby.
The recidivism rate for gambling is high. After treatment, Sorsby will need to be closely monitored so that he does not have a relapse, whether he plays or not.
You missed the most important point in this.
Did this gambler, known gambler by the ncaa get suspended or kicked out of school?
Did osu get banned, suspended by the ncaa or were they put on probation?
I am asking because this same player was according to his bio an ALL AMERICAN and it looks like he kept playing for osu.
I checked to see if osu was put on probation. I did not find any until 2010.
Did I miss something here?
I apologize if I am wrong but how in the world did not this player be kicked out of school and how is it possible the ncaa did not go nuclear on osu?
Again if I miss something let me know.
This would be another case of who the ncaa goes after vs other schools.
Thank you for posting.
I don’t recall much controversy about him in college, maybe I was too young at the time, but I distinctly remember that his pro career was largely derailed by gambling controversies.
