TT QB Brendan Sorsby Gambling Issues

It appears that this is another example on how the ncaa have protected the blue bloods at all cost.
ncaa rules for most and not for the blue bloods. This is regardless of how much cheating they do.

I was a kid during Schilchter’s career, but my memory is that the gambling stuff only came out when he was in the NFL. The irony is that he was known as an ideal kid in college; his biography was literally titled “Straight Arrow.” But I think every young man in America should be required to read that guy’s wikipedia page. What an awful life he has led. Once addiction gets its claws sunk into you, it can make your life a living hell.

Living on the jagged edge

The only wagers I have ever had on any sporting events were with friends in the office and were for only a few bucks or a lunch.

Oh yeah, I would also buy a square or two in the office pools.

There is a middle ground. I enjoy wagering. I look at it as entertainment. My partner and I aren’t movie people. I can make a $25 bet on a football game and have 4 hours of entertainment. Same or a little less that we would spend at a movie. Plus, I can pop my own popcorn!

Thank you for responding Jeff. That is what i found on the net. almost nothing. If it had been UH instead of osu we can only imagine what the ncaa would have done.
What is mind boggling is that he completed college and was an All American. Not only did osu know but more importantly the ncaa did nothing about it.
By not knowing what he bet on being an osu player osu should have been forced to give back all the wins they had when he played…that is the bare minimum.
Rules for them but not for me.

Dellenger reports Sorsby’s attorney requests an expedited review of his reinstatement.

Something to monitor.

It’s not his fault!!!
Sorseby’s attorneys are suing the NCAA because it’s a mental illness.

The real reason he’s pushing is he needs to be in the supplemental draft if he can’t play at Tech…

I still think he’s going to regain some eligibility and play in 2026.

Sorsby has until June 22, 2026, to file for the NFL Supplemental Draft.

The judge better hurry.

Apparently the judge hearing the case is a Tech grad lol

I’m not sure a judge will ultimately decide this case - might be a deal that the NCAA just resolves rather than risk unwanted precedent. And there’s a risk that a full-blown trial would turn into a PR disaster that highlights how intertwined college athletics is with gambling.

There was a similar case at UT recently, and one of the players initially deemed ineligible was reinstated.

These things rarely turn out good. Let him play and watch tech suck … all that string pulling for nada

Some, but not all, NFL teams will take him off their draft board because of his gambling history. Ironic, because the gaming industry is a major advertiser of the NFL.

Yeah, you would think so.

But Schlicter kept being given chance after chance after chance after chance…until he finally gambled with too much of other people’s money and got into major legal trouble.
