Not really similar…
These bets were on player statistics not game outcomes and the 2 guys at UT that bet on UT play football but bet on basketball…

They are similar, but not identical. Regardless, the one guy was initially deemed ineligible but was reinstated once conditions were satisfied. I can totally see the NCAA taking the same approach here by reinstating Sorsby after a short suspension on the condition that he completes rehab and maybe pays money back or something.
I think Sorsby’s NCAA-fighting attorneys would love for this to go to trial for the same reasons that the NCAA doesn’t want that.
"The filing says Sorsby suffers from a “clinically diagnosed” gambling disorder, which is “a mental health condition.”
The NCAA has weaponized his condition to shore up a facade of competitive integrity, while simultaneously profiting from the very gambling ecosystem it polices," the filing states.
Chuckle…he’ll play and withering media scrutiny will follow Tech for the entire season.,
They need to wait until he wins a CFP game, gets top 3 in the Heisman, gets drafted in the first round, and wins rookie of the year. Then they’ll shut tech football down for a season to teach them a lesson

“One of the Longhorn football players was deemed ineligible, but was ultimately reinstated. That particular player was required to pay back the value of the wagers to a charity of his choosing.”
Sure he was. The ncaa and uta, the forever definition of how corrupt the ncaa is.

At uta WE ARE ABOVE THE LAW.
Sorsby bet on his team while at Indiana. That alone ought to get him kicked out from any ncaa sanctioned sports. How many players/athletes have been sanctioned by the ncaa over the years? Plenty. This is on teetech to have recruited him and signed him to a multi millions Dollars contract. If the contract clause does not include him being sanctioned by the ncaa or knowing of his betting this is on teetech.
Didn’t give a reason???
Sheeeeeeeet…
The reason should be OBVIOUS!!!
At least he did the right thing!
Ethics. Who knew?
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that someone must have reminded him of ethical practice and conflict of interest.
Yeah, props to him
Hopefully he gets the Baylor judge - A&M don’t care, plus their law grads are dumb
It says that the administrative judge has degrees from both ATM and Baylor.
Well I’ve never claimed not to be dumb
!!
Judge Curry is a 1976 UH law grad. Houston went to Lubbock and beat No. 5 Tech on November 20th that year to basically clinch the league in its first year.
And now Curry decides if their degenerate gets to play.

I actually have the Daily Cougar cover following that game framed in my office
I would like to see a replay of that game.
Imagine if he had gotten a Coog judge lol…
I wanted to go to that game so bad but could not get off work. But I did watch intensely as we got the big early lead and then hung on for dear life as freshman Elvis Bradley came up with a huge late interception of a Rodney Allison toss. Wilson Whitley was a terror on a our great defense and secured his Lombardi award in that game…
