Tulane vs USC

He also had two 9 win seasons at Georgia Southern, which no one has been able to replicate since. (Correction: one coach did have a single 10 win season. No other has two though. And those were the first two at FBS level.)

He wouldn’t have lasted with 2 wins at Houston, but Kudos with Tulane staying with him another year.

Did I just say the AAC & Cotton Bowl Champions won only two games last year!!! Wow :open_mouth:

He was available when all of UH was enamored with LTH, 2016. He then went to Tulane in 2016. Two years later, he was already established at Tulane and my guess is he was not on the radar when UH went looking to replace Major (Mr. Personality) Applewhite. Too late . . . . .

If it was up to Coogfans, Fritz would have been gone after 2019 as we couldn’t win 8 games like Briles, Sumlin, Levine, Herman, and Applewhite.

LOL

Anybody know what Lainie Fritz, coach’s daughter, is doing now? There’s an old Chronicle article that she left sports casting (KPRC) and is going into teaching. I always thought she was cool

Fritz is an objectively a better coach at this point. People beating this drum only had Sam Houston and Tulane’s perceived inferiority to stand on prior to today. Both points aren’t irrefutable.

As I’ve stated before even some mediocre coaches eventually have a good year, but it’s more credit to the stars aligning than them being able to recreate success through their own ability. Though he didn’t win a Cotton Bowl, Phillip Montgomery is similar in that aspect. Let’s see Fritz run it back before we crown him the GOAT of underdogs.

How many schools will tolerate a big bowl win every 5 years and .500 and losing seasons the other 4? Honestly that’s what it all boils down to
what a program will tolerate.

CTH did. Let’s get him back. JK.
What would be Fritz’s buyout at this point? CDH’s? Remember that this was Fritz’s first year with eight wins.

She went into teaching somewhere in the Houston from what I heard but she stayed low key.

Socialite.

A lot of people have this mentality of every G5 coach that wins a major bowl game is the next Chris Petersen/Urban Meyer/Gary Patterson.

Wow, very industrious and passionate.

Can we get some “stars to align” and get some defense? Probably need some “stars aligned” for some offense too.

Fritz, WOULD be ideal but that’s not happening. Our Fritz is right up the street in Huntsville. His name is KC Keeler.

Kind of sounds like the 76 SWC and Cotton Bowl champs. Fritz will be at Tulane for as long as he wants to be. I’m wondering if the P5 teams will come calling now.

Man this way of thinking makes it a risky hire. There’s some underlying reasons why some are pulling hard for Fritz, I get it. But at some point we gotta look at it with a fully objective lens and ask ourselves, what are we REALLY getting?

Those stars have aligned themselves with other stars in the NFL, and unfortunately our two biggest stars on offense will be doing the same. At some point Holgy will need to get more stars to shine. It might take some effort on his part to do so. lol scary

Yeah I saw that too.
