Tulane vs USC

We have a coach and we aren’t changing for at least another year or two. Hopefully CDH turns it around and gets us going for a string of successful seasons. I am happy for Fritz and he was who I wanted back when Levine was fired and then after Herman left. But that ship has sailed; Holgorsen is our coach now and I am supporting him until he is no longer our coach, however long that is.

Tulane has won 6 or more games 9 times in the last 30 years. Four of them have been with Fritz. I believe only one other coach has more than one (Tommy Bowden)

Also his accomplishments at every school he’s worked for prior to to Tulane.

That’s a lot more than a fluky Cotton Bowl win.

That said, look at the coaches with BCS/NY6 bowl wins:
Patterson
Peterson
Herman
Frost
Meyer
Whittingham

That’s actually a pretty good list, I think? Tom Herman is the second worst there. Frost is the only failure. Is there anyone I’m missing?

A winner who has been successful everywhere he has been?

CDH can signed the #1 recruiting class. But until i see some results on the field then i would temper my expectations from now on.

He had all the advantages like recruiting with the P5/Big 12 card all those years on the Big 12 and still couldnt beat Oklahoma once not even at home. Yet Judas was at a mid major on a neutral field and hand them a loss against Baker and that loaded squad.

Let’s say at this rate, 1/7 years he wins a big bowl. The other years he’s been hovering around .500 and not to mention a 2 win season last year. They were more talented last year than they were this year. That’s erratic. Do we want that?

Matter of fact we got the reverse of that with Holgorsen and look how we(myself included) handled it. This board would have melted if we would have went 2-10 last year. lol

Hey Michel de Nostredame, thought you died in 1566 . . . . .

It isn’t so much that negative Coogfans are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.

I thank a lot of Tulane’s recent success comes with the opening of Yulman Stadium. I attended King’s last game there fun little venue.

If you still support the program but think CDH sucks are you still considered a fan? Asking for a friend

No definitely still a fan, but we have to suffer through middling seasons before he leads us to a Cotton Bowl victory in his 7th year at UH. I call it the Willie Fritz theory.

I didn’t think Helton or Dimel were football gods, but I went to every home game and some away games.

Does that answer your question?

Fritz has won CHAMPIONSHIPS at every level he’s been except FBS. Tulane is a tough sell for recruiting too. At best, CDH has been mediocre everywhere he’s been as a head coach. That’s all I’m saying. If administration is cool with that OK. They should just admit it.

I get where you’re going with this but there’s vast difference between Fritz and the people on this list. One major difference is the amount of time it took them to get on the platform vs the amount of time Fritz took to get there. Good coach, still not the answer.

Who told you this? Recruits?

Another difference is that they took over good programs who’d had recent success.

Fritz took over a program with four winning seasons over the preceding 30 years.

I also noticed Coach Fritz addressed the Tulane crowd as Green Wave Nation, just like Herman used the Coog Nation on National TV with us back in the 2015 Peach Bowl.

I can’t help but wonder if Fritz will stay, but if he does & is able to recruit well then the New AAC should be really fun to watch.

Smart programs will be interested in him and his job history suggests he’s happy moving around. Tulane would be smart to have a list of replacements. (This is also one of the marks against Houston hiring him if we have an opening.)

What did that grant them? None of that seems tangible. lol Narrative vs results.

Results say them having the worst record in his tenure when they were most talented is a red flag. I love how some people like to point towards external factors as reasons for him losing, but other coaches can’t use external factors as a reason for losing; only reasons for them winning; I’m looking at you Cary.

Give CDH his credit for his 12 win season and don’t blame it on an easy schedule if you’re going to blame Fritz’s struggles on external obstacles at Tulane.

It’s so crazy we’re crowning coaches elite based off of emotion. lol
