TV Series

I already knew you’d be championing it. You’re probably the audience its paying lip service to.

The problem is that its all low hanging fruit, plus if you have to outright tell the audience, HE WAS RAPING ME, then your story telling is suspect.

1923 was good. Turns out I really like Ransom Canyon. Chicago PD tonight.

I haven’t seen it. Like I said the first episode didn’t grab me. But your post intrigued me and I came across this article where the creator explains their reasoning. Not trying to “championing” it, just giving context.

Maybe I’ll check out Ransom Canyon….

The two new ones I’m watching now are

Friends and Neighbors

And

Mobland

The new season of Mayor of Kingstown is done filming and should be out this summer for any of you fans.

Finale of Dark Winds is Sunday, been a great season.

I guess I’m not alone…

I mean, its a show for kids, do I have to explain to my 6 year old what rape is?

Ohh if you’re judging as a 6 year old then yeah but it is on you the parent to know a shows rating,
No, “Andor” is not typically considered a show for kids. It’s rated TV-14, meaning it’s intended for older children and adults, and includes themes and content that may not be suitable for younger viewers. The show delves into political intrigue, spy thrillers, and dystopian themes, which might be challenging for younger audiences to grasp.
So not intended for 6 year olds

Another show not intended for young kids, The Last of Us statrted season 2. The second up episode is be compared to the best of Game of Thrones

I wonder if they’ll make a new Duck Tales with more mature themes. Maybe Scrooge McDuck can sexually harass Mrs. Featherby.

So Star Wars is like children animation to you?

Anyway I’ll go back to it being heavy handed. And yes judging by all the toys and merch Star Wars is kid centric, but you won’t admit that.

So Star Wars has to pick its lane?
You don’t have to do the work as a parent and see what the maturity rating on a Live action show is, because you can point to all the animmated shows Star Wars has for children. ?
Andor is for people who were children in the 1980s and are adults now. If you don’t want to expose your child to adult themes then don’t have them watching shows TV-14 rating

OK you win, it’s not for kids, but does a rape scene belong in Star Wars? So many other shows movies already show that kind of stuff, Star Wars became popular without it being a game of thrones type and now they want to take it there? Why?

I do think that’s a worthy debate. I thought the creator was over the top with his assessment, we’re all products of rape because that’s what happened in Wars.
I think the original love of Star Wars is sci fi/fantasy escapism. Sure it always had rebels vs the Empire but that didn’t seem to be a comment on any current situation. I always love it when my UT friends realize they went to school at the Evil Empire.

Did you like Season 1 of Andor?

I did, my favorite part was the heist arc. That’s more in line with sci-fi adventure genre that is Star Wars. If I want an evil nazi message, I’d just watch Schindler’s List.

You’re mad that an IP with an imperialist fascist empire as the big baddie is depicting the big bad empire as too evil? Lmao if this one particular show is too gritty and adult for you then there’s always the SW cartoons and kid content you can watch or try My Little Pony instead. Mad that the fictional baddies are doing fictional baddie things in a show that’s for older viewers is not a serious critique. Especially when we’ve seen these fictional baddies wipe out entire planets and commit genocide on screen before. Like let’s bffr here.

Disney ruined SW. Debating what’s going on with their shows now is moot. Disney SW = poop.

Lucas ruined Star Wars with the pre-quels.

Lots of good and bad since then. I’d put Mandolorian up against any other Star Wars IP.

Skeleton Crew was really good. More for kids, but a lot of fun.

Sure, anyways, here’s something that irritated me, since I always have subtitles on for dialog it seems, and I guess I wasn’t alone.

They weren’t prequels. Lucas originally drew up a 9 film series. He filmed the middle 3 first.
