I suppose that one film “Solo: A Star Wars Story” was a true prequel.

I halfway enjoyed it, but it was a bit of a disappointment at the box office, from what I’ve heard.

Isn’t that still what prequel means

story or movie containing events that precede those of an existing work

Didn’t the Star Wars franchise consider episodes 1-3 to be the the prequel trilogy?

The prequel were pretty bad. The Anakin actor was awful. The turn to darkness was poorly done.

But I wanted to see them. After watching 7 and 8, I didn’t even give the 9th movie a try and everything I’ve heard says i made the right choice

They came out after the original trilogy, yet took place before. That’s the definition of a prequel, regardless of planning.

You’re giving Lucas way to much credit. He didn’t have this master planned, he retconned.

I preferred the sequel to the prequels 10 times over. Maybe it’s because I experienced then with my son, but they are far superior to 1-3.

I’m a prequel kid. Was a pre-teen for The Phantom Menace and that was my opening to SW IP as I had only seen bits and pieces of SW 1977 on tv. So practically everything I’ve seen from SW (Disney or not) easily clears the bar of the prequels. Only things that come close are Episode IX (poor narrative planning by the studio for the sequel trilogy that ended in that clusterf—k) and The Acolyte (good concept, terrible writing). Most everything else has been minimum B tier but since not everything is S Tier then fans start getting the nostalgia agita.

No, 4,5,and 6 were sequels.

Star Wars (1977) is the original. ESB & ROTJ are sequels. TPM, AOTC & ROTS are prequels and upon their release the original trilogy were given the Episodes 4,5 & 6 designation. Sequel and prequel are judged by the story timeline in reference to the original piece of IP.

Star Wars canon and practically everyone refers to the trilogies as:
The Prequel Trilogy: Episodes 1-3
The Original Trilogy: Episodes 4-6
The Sequel Trilogy: Episodes 7-9

Anyone watching Dope Thief on Apple+? I’m through episode 6 and find it pretty good. It has a little “The Wire” and Omar Little vibe to it with good bit of action.

Is the season over? When I saw the trailer it looked like I’d be into it but I hate doing the week to week watching.

I just finished Season Two of “The Big Door Prize” on Apple TV. Ends with a huge cliffhanger, and I found out it was cancelled, so no end to that story.

It started out kind of twee, but got really layered the further in you get. The Giorgio character is my favorite in awhile.

Sounds interesting.

All 8 episodes are out.

Thanks for the info on that series. I’ll pass on that one in that I hate canceled cliffhangers.

Everyone should watch the Penguin. Not only is it good, Colin Farrell puts down one of the best acting performances of all time. Truly an epic performance, one that should easily net him almost every award for best actor.

Yeah, that’s a really good show, and the lead actress, Christine Milioti, is impressive too.

Yes, both were excellent and should be nominated for something

I am not a Marvel or DC guy, don’t watch any of the movies….aside from Deadpool.

I looked forward to The Penguin every week, excellent show and CF was incredible.
I won’t spoil it for anyone but the last episode was extremely disappointing.

It was the first time I found myself not hoping the Penguin succeeded. I liked the relationship between he and the kid……bummer.
