UH 2027 Centennial plans

Wilhelmina’s grove?

That could have been an interesting variation too, with some type of tower/oblesik
opposite E Cullen at the other end. Oh well, maybe for Bicentennial that may be
in play.

Also, in that 1967 photo it’s interesting how University Drive connected to Cullen
Blvd. Was a good move cutting that street transgression out of the campus and eventually becoming Butler Plaza.

That just looks like broken up concrete to me.

I think they should make it so that after big wins, the water fountain structures light up in red.

As pretty as it was, the fountain was an unmaintainable mess; it’s been mostly broken for the last like 15 years. By the time I graduated in 2016, they were basically only turning it on for Welcome Week and Graduation.

I believe the fountain has been problematic for a long time. They were working on it as part of the big John Moores gift when I was there in 1992. Hopefully they can get it right this time. A broken fountain looks worse than no fountain.

The fountain did require maintenance, as does everything.

However it’s incorrect to say it’s mostly been
broken recently. As evidence look at the time lapse webcam while it’s still available. It’s overwhelming on.

They should down size it to save on maintenance.

Farish Hall set to be demolished tomorrow 9/19. Noticed the fountain livestream was taken down. Hopefully they put a new stream up on McElhinney.

May have misread this. They close off the area on 9/19. Not sure of demo date.

They should explode it as part of homecoming.

Is Wilhelmina’s grove mostly done?

They couldn’t fit a new Technology building in there some where?

Wow it seems like they are making tons of progress. Can’t wait for 2027

Thanks; was looking at the cameras last week and didn’t see anything like
construction in the area. I’ll try to check it out next week.
