That would almost certainly happen, though I get the sense that the program is pretty well funded in those areas.
The buyouts on our end are relatively negligible, especially when compared to the continued lack of interest in the program. Money isn’t what has kept us from making a change.
A Tuesday night win in extra innings; and, instead of being elated by it, I’m just so waiting for the announcement of a new, known, winning baseball coach hire.
After our win over #135 McNeese we stayed at #108 in RPI. We host #31 UCF this weekend (9-12 Big 12). They’re 1-5 in their last six Big 12 games vs. Cinci (home) and WVU (road).
#116 Baylor and #117 BYU are the two Big 12 schools ranked below UH. BYU is 1.5 games behind UH in the Big 12 standings but Baylor is three games ahead despite UH’s sweep of the Bears.
In RPI, UH at #110, followed by #127 BYU and #133 Baylor. Baylor went with the local, dominant JUCO coach (like Wayne Graham years ago at Rice). Will Baylor ultimately be successful with this coach?
Big 12 is the third best conference and nearly equal distance behind ACC and ahead of Big 10.
We’re half a game ahead of BYU for last place. If we win all six of our remaining games (home vs. #2 OSU and at #5 KU), and Tech loses all three of its games at OSU this weekend, we get the tenth spot. That assumes that Baylor doesn’t do better than 3-3 the rest of the way (at OU and home vs UCF).
