Interesting…
Conference games I assume?
I just saw that the Astros are doing a series in Mexico City this year as well.
Man, if we think the altitude in Albuquerque or Denver causes issues, wait until we get a taste of Mexico City.
It’s a cool place, though - definitely a great experience for the guys.
I’m just trying to understand what the benefit of this is?
@ehog tried to tell us
Some things seem obvious after you see them written down
Trying to make the Big 12 brand international and build it up so it just isn’t the big 2 conferences
That makes some sense. I would still rather keep our home games at Fertitta Center.
MLB will have a team in Mexico City some time. Everybody is trying to tap into Mexico City $$
Goes to show my ignorance of other nations, but I had no idea that Mexico City was a higher elevation than Denver.
Mexico City is a couple thousand feet higher than Denver.
Our friends in Alpine, Texas are only a few hundred feet (ok, 700’) lower than Denver. Ft Davis is about 200’ below Denver.
Later this month I’ll be higher than Mexico City on the South Rim of the Chisos Mountains. And I’ll be higher than the bejeezus while I’m up there.
I’m gonna be in the Chisos this weekend!
Maybe you and Timmy can hook up and smoke a fatty….Coog bonding.
MLB won’t go to Mexico City. The elevation is too high. They’d need a field larger than Coors Field and pitchers’ ERAs would skyrocket. MLB will expand eventually, with Montreal, Nashville, Portland and Charlotte in the mix.
And I don’t want to play any of our home games in Mexico. Play them in front of our fans in Houston. Boo!
Yes, we all need that Drug Cartel $$$$!
Yep, that’s all that’s in Mexico……what a tool.
“Estadio BBVA, a 53,500-seat stadium in Monterrey, is the Big 12’s target venue for football games”
Amazing facility and view. Please let UH BB and FB open this Mexico series.
That’s awesome. Are you camping up there, backpacking, or just some day hikes?
We’ll be hiking up to the South Rim on Memorial Day, just staying one night up there unfortunately. But glad to have the chance to do it, and excited to take my son for his first backpacking trip.
Friends who’ve been up there lately said they’ve seen bears in the campsites every year for the last four years. So be careful. But they also said the bears have been pretty uninterested in them. Maybe my friends are just boring people?
