This will by my 3rd time in 6 years - mostly just day hikes and staying outside of the park. We love the south rim, but also are big fans of the Lower Burro Mesa. Easy hike, cool pour off at the end. If you haven’t been to the Terlingua Ghost town, it’s a cool way to spend the evening after spending all day in the park.
Big Bend is a national treasure and everyone needs to go there.
But if everyone goes there, it will kind of suck. I went there a few years ago and drove all day down around Mariscal Mine and Old Ore Road after hitting the Lost Mine, Window and a couple of other trails. There are so many hikes left to do.
It doesn’t matter how many UH fans go in the scheme of things.
You are looking at the trees not the forest. Plenty of Mexicans will go & the B12 exponentially increases a potentially huge fan base.
The crowd isn’t really the objective. Getting a toehold in a new market and drawing eyeballs to televisions is what they’re after. A metro area with 22MM people seems like a decent target.
This is correct. We stayed outside the park for Spring Break every year for quite a few years over the last ten years or do, but gave up on trying to get into the National Park during that time. We actually tried to go in one year but there was a mile long line to get in. They were doing “one out, one in”. After about ten minutes of waiting in line and not moving we made a quick change in plans to go into the State Park and do a couple of hikes.
The first time I went I was awed by the views but thought I had seen everything. I have lost track of the number of times I’ve been but I figure I’ve been to the National Park around 50 times over the years. And every time I’m able to see a new part of the park. It’s an unbelievable gem, but no one should visit.
sounds good to me!..i’m there every few months, hometown is nearby…bball in Mexico City and Football in Monterrey, B12 needs to get it done…“Los Pumas” has a nice ring to it
Was that Bob Bowlsby’s creative team ? His “out of the box” thinkers.
Mexico infrastructure/utility/road build outs at their 2026 World Cup locations.
Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara = B12 football is set for locations.
Are CFB games in general on the radio throughout Mexico ?
That would be the 1st step.
Yormark is a smart man, he knows what he is doing. UH can become the CFB team of the Mexican people. That’s no small thing. With that may increase the amount of students from Mexico , paying full tuition.
Of the B12 schools in Texas, UH is the logical choice to market in Mexico. TCU and Baylor are private schools with higher tuition. Texas Tech and UH are both public schools but UH is much closer to the border than Lubbock and has a more diverse student body.
If UH was selected to play in Mexico, I would bring as much UH merch as I could, and give it away. I would also send UH ambassadors to Mexico and promote the hxxx out of the game and the university. Talk about our athletic successes and our great law school, Hilton college and new medical school. Allow players to be interviewed on the local tele. We can win over Mexico.
