UH Email on New Ticket Technology

Got this email from UH:

The 2025 academic year is almost upon us which means it’s time for more Cougar Football! Your season tickets will be hitting your online account very soon, as long as you are paid in full.

This year, we are excited to announce a new era of ticketing with the introduction of NFC , or Near Field Communication , mobile passes.

Similar to “Tap to Pay,” NFC tickets will allow for easier and quicker access into events by simply tapping your mobile phone to our scanners - no QR code necessary. Due to this, screenshots will NOT be accepted at any UH Athletics event, and all tickets must be downloaded to your mobile wallet (Apple Wallet for Apple users, Google Wallet for Android users). This also means that all tickets sent to another fan must be transferred through your online UH Ticket Account.

Below is a reminder on how you can access, download, and manage your tickets all through your online UH Ticketing account. We strongly recommend that all ticket holders read the below in detail to be fully prepared for the 2025 season!

NEW! APPLE ACCOUNT BINDING

New for any ticket holder with an Apple device is Account Binding - Apple’s initiative to enhance the security of NFC/contactless tickets in your Apple Wallet.

For more information on what this means for your ticket, please watch the short video or click UH Apple Account Binding Guide - University of Houston Athletics

Keep an eye out for the email.

I collect ticket stubs, I hate the ticketless system. Anyone else?

Thank goodness. NFC scanning has always been way faster for me than bar codes or QR codes. I do wish we could at least get commemorative physical tickets, though.

I used to save tickets and now I have drawer full of tickets and haven’t done anything with them. I can’t bring myself to get rid of them and I’m not motivated to do anything with them.

The dilemmas of life.

Ticket stubs only matter if we have a good season and win games.

Edit; it’s been awhile since we’ve had a good season and “won some games”

I think you can still ask for paper tickets.

The ticketless system is a pain, I have basketball tickets for a group (admittedly, I’m the youngest person in the group too). So if I don’t have paper, I have to transfer the ticket or tickets to the person in the group, who then gets prompted to sign in (sign in to what? I don’t have an account?!), which they might be able to bypass, then, have to save it in their google or apple wallet (How? Did I save it there? Where is it?), and then be able to pull it up again when we get to the stadium - if they didn’t save it correctly originally, its sort of a rehash of this all.

Technology, when it works, and it is seamless and intuitive it is great. When it has a hiccup, or the process is clunky (how our electronic ticketing platform is), then it is a pain in the rear.

I like collecting the ticket stubs, too hehe

I disagree, actually. I think it’s cooler to have ticket stubs from the years we sucked, to prove that you’ve been in it for the long haul.

Semi off topic, but I threw away 2 tickets for a game between Astro’s and Pirates. It was a June 15th game. I was downtown signing divorce papers on my birthday. It rained, and rained, and rained. Only game that ever rained out in the Domed Stadium. I’m sure the actual tickets would have some value today, but alas, they are lpng gone.

When are they emailing the tickets?

The email says they are emailing the tickets very soon. It is not soon enough for me.

Always enjoyed saving ticket stubs. Have them going back to games, movies, and concerts a long time. Also enjoyed making the efforts back as an undergrad to get the front row 50 yard line student ticket for every game my last three years. even nicer when the next year, they dropped student tickets so I got the last ones. Things like that make a ticket collection more memorable.

Adding to my collection was just one more reason to renew season tickets. That is now one more reason that no longer exists as I don’t recall even seeing an option for UH the past two seasons, and TCU tacks on something like $50 just for printed versions.

Ben, that just wasn’t your day. It was a regular Joe Btfsplk type day. (Character from Li’l Abner cartoon)

You can ask for paper tickets for $25 extra which I did. I’ll prob have to call and ask if they did which is a yearly thing but they can mail tickets , at least I told them and paid for it. I’ll let y know if they mess it up

Ummm…why don’t you take a screen shot of the ticket on your phone and print it on card stock paper.
