It’s not as much nowadays as it used to be….but yes you are correct as it was a way to not get tied down for three years in D-1.
Which is why on draft day you would see a kid from say Indian Hills Community College getting picked in the first round of the draft.

So far the only OL on our 2 deep to hit the portal is D. Bowman who was a redshirt Freshman 2nd string center. However, I think true freshman D. Hunter would have passed him next season at the Center position. So far we have signed one OL from HS (Cayden Bowie) and have one transfer, 4 star Jaylen Garth who transferred from UT. I think he will be a RS freshman this year due to free COVID year.

It probably is. The Oliver group had 19 recruits with an average ranking of 85.62. This class, so far, has 16 recruits with an average ranking of 86.82. If we get Jacoby Davis, which is kind of expected (no guarantees), we’d inch up to somewhere around 87 per recruit.

Yes, it’s a strong class. If the rankings were based on average rating per recruit, we’d be in the mid to high 30s. On Rivals, we’d be #32.
