Uh Oh. The Blind Side may be a load of crap

Oh yeah this was 100% basically told from Mrs. Trouhy’s POV

If that’s the case - then I would probably side with Michael here.

Whole story is a mess nonetheless

That’s the story that would sell.

True, the actual story is nice but it wouldn’t make a great movie.

Just saw this folks.

Not sure how reliable the source is.

Do the movie lie to you

When you see at the beginning of a movie “based on a true story”, know they took creative liberties.

If you see “inspired by a true story/events”, the creative liberties are even worse.

It says they have received 700k. Mike is asking for financial disclosure on payments from the film it seems it would have been easy to do.

We’ll see what the discovery process yields.

Exactly…which is why I’ve come to the conclusion that this NCAA rules played into this. It’s the only reasonable reason an attorney would advise them to not adopt IMHO. Either gross negligence…which is absolutely bonkers to think an attorney would not know adult adoptions are legal or his advice was ‘if you want the scholly, do a conservatorship instead of adoption’.

Either way…they could at any time since he graduated adopted him and made him their actual “son”.

They did not. That hurts to the core. That’s the main issue here IMHO.

Yeah, that’s a valid point.

OTOH…I hear people all the time claim to be “married” or “married in the eyes of God” when the law says otherwise.

Sometimes…people may call another person their son or daughter and have a relationship understood to be that/or more or less be to that effect, when legally, they aren’t really their son or daughter.

Yep, and its always when something legal or financial comes to a head that the person finds out the other party was not 100% serious.

I think that’s happened here. Michael found out they don’t really see him as their son.

Art Howe is tall and athletic, a very nice guy.

I can’t believe Moneyball lied about Art Howe!

Oh, same book writer. LOL

Meh, apples to not even oranges.

The adoption of Michael Oher was THE central theme of The Blind Side. Plus, Oher didn’t need the help of the mom to be a great lineman…apparently he was getting schooly offers before they brought him into their lives.

Looks in Moneyball are barely a blip sized side story.

The way they portrayed Art is far from the way Art is.

Got to watch the documentary or else you don’t get the the truth about what Art looks like. Very valid point

Again, that was a side story and looks were even less of it. The main story was using new data sets to determine who they went after/who played and the success it generated. The only thing they changed was looks, no big deal, and how much disagreement between Beane & Howe there actually was. They spiced it up to create some drama…no surprise.

The Blind Side’s main theme is being challenged.

The Art Howe coaching was not really the main point of Moneyball.
