UH RB Recruit Johnny Hebert

The guy is averaging 300 yards a game against 6A competition, I don’t know how hidden that is.

oh lordt

LOL

You’re absolutely right.

You know, I’ve been researching him a little and several things stand out to me.

  1. He’s not a big back, but seems to have a real toughness about him.
  2. He’s fundamentally sound and while not being the biggest player on the field, and not the fastest, he’s plenty fast enough to outrun most of the guys at the level he is at.
  3. I don’t see him dominating in college quite the way he is doing in high school, even though it is 6A Texas HS Football, but… I do see him becoming a Dean Connors / Skataboo-type back who will grind out a lot of yards, break a lot of tackles, and be an every down guy who carries a load for the team allowing others to excel.

He appears to be really durable and in great shape, as he doesn’t drop off in production in the 3rd and 4th quarters, despite getting so many carries.

In other words, I don’t see any weaknesses. He’s a high character guy and will be a GREAT addition to the program.

I’m sure my evaluation has a number of flaws because I haven’t seen him play, in person, and I could be wrong about how fast he really is. I know he also runs track.

Anyone know his 40 time?

And his dad played in the NFL, FWIW.

I haven’t seen a 40 time, but I bet his shuttle speed is high level. His 100 is good but not elite

His speed will probably play a little better than Connors’ if I had to guess.

Thanks. His dad playing in the NFL speaks to his potential to develop, physically, very well in a solid university diet and exercise program.

These phenomenal HS recruits Willie is getting ALL need time to develop, and, likewise, need the support of our fanbase, where we aren’t insisting they come in and start as true Freshmen.

This includes KH.

Trust Willie. Trust the process.

If he “ends up” better than Dean Connors, then he’ll be a home run, IMO…

Especially if UH has him for 4 years.

As Gus Johnson once said in a broadcast “he’s got getting away from the cops speed”

His dad was a stud at Klein High School (my high school Alma mater). One of 11 Hebert kids to go through Klein high school, all of which played D1 sports in either football or volleyball. Johnnys dad still holds the state record for longest interception return for a TD at 109 yards. He’s got some good genes.

He kind of reminds me of Texas high school legend Johnathan Gray from Aledo.

Johnathan Gray was ok at UT but wasn’t the same after that injury

He’s fast enough to outrun 6-A defenses for multiple 50+ yard TD’s each game!

The new Johnny Football. “Johnny H. Football”

Memo to UH Marketing: Between Henderson and Hebert, you have a lot to market around.

My dad didn’t think he was very fast but to outrun teams repeatedly for 50 plus yard tds is very good. He’s definitely got speed to burn.

Four TDs last night over 50yards each… and neither smaller/lighter corners or safeties caught up to him during his TD runs. Looked to me he was gaining distance

He looks sub 11 as a 100 meters runner.

High School Track record is 9.92

By the by Mathew Boling held the 100 Meters State Record for a while.

His High School? Strake Jesuit.

He was 11.18 last year. That would translate to about a 4.65 40.

He should definitely be able to improve on that when he gets here, and he’ll probably be faster than that during the upcoming track season.

Just met a Columbus Cardinal coach here. I forgot to ask who he was here supporting but I am assuming TCU. The Schoebel boys are freshmen at TCU.

Like to see a race between him and Carlisle.
Dickinson is tough and no doubt geared to stop Hebert.
