We should give him a lifetime contract then.
Former letterwinner. I tend to deal in facts. Many people commentating on our golf program have zero clue or concept of college golf and what it takes to actually be good, year in and year out. You just remember Dave Williams and all the old guys and how dominant they were.
Until the University steps up and supports the program, the best we can get is maybe sneaking into the top 25. Outside of that, be happy that the University provides $0 to the program and we are competitive.
Maybe that will change soon.
Big 12 payments will be going up soon….New AD looks to be improving programs….he sure threw a pretty big stack of
at the new women’s basketball coach.
The facilities are that crappy over there?
Our facility is great - it’s just 30 minutes from campus. Texas has to deal with the same thing but they have their own golf club. All we have is a building we split with GC of Houston. Still have to call the shop and plan times in advance.
All the other major schools we compete with for talent all have courses either on campus or within 10 minutes.
So, that’s what holding them back from winning a Big 12 championship and competing for a national title?
Maybe our next coach? Just speculation on my part.
Just throwing a name out there. Beverly Smith was the former coach of South Carolina. She was raised in the Houston area and went to Westfield High. She also worked for UH for a short time.
Where is she coaching now?
As far as I know, she’s not. However, she had decent records in the SEC. Like I said, she’s from the area and also a quality person!
I’m sure she is a quality person. We need coaches who will turn our programs into winning Big 12 programs.
Access to NIL is a must but we’ve seen that fail at LSU and A&M - the Liberty coach comes to mind
Just read that the Liberty coach is none other than UCLA softball legend Dot Richardson. That must help in recruiting not to mention that she seems to be a pretty good coach.
Is NIL that important in softball? These athletes are not from the poor side of town. In fact softball is a middle class/upper class sport. Before NIL most players had to share a scholarship.
They still want a taste Norb.
The stud pitcher for Tech got a boatload……plus they aren’t making any money after college playing softball.
In SB it is all about pitching. Need to spend some money for at least two.
Got paid 1 million to play softball lol
It was only $100k to play softball. The remaining $900k was for having to move to Lubbock.
