UH Softball

He gone!

Will be interesting to see who we go after. I think one of the first calls would be to the coach at Grand Canyon who is 46-6 on the season

I’d give the ULM coach a look. Looks like she built program from scratch at one of the poorest schools. Sunbelt coach of the year this year and stars are Houston area players. Could bring them with her.

The Scott & Holman Podcast just posted a great emergency episode on (now former coach) Vesley’s “firing” & the bts drama, extending from the Pezman days, UH’s ambiguous police investigation, and assessing Nuñez’s handling of the hot mess he inherited with the Softball team upon arrival.

A new men’s golf coach, too.

Horrible take. Both programs we have are top 40. You want to get better? What we need is money and support. Two things we continue to lack.

Uncle Tilman has been great for Houston, but we need a Cody Campbell. Strap in, Tech is about to run roughshod over the Big12 because of his unlimited funds for NIL.

Across the board, already seeing it for TT. The spring sports are a prime example. Plus, they have done a much better job in hiring coaches than a&m and ut and maximizing their “investments”. Going to be a challenge to keep up.

Nah. Try a new coach by this point. It would be nice to get that program back to a contender.

Where were you in 2009 when we were ranked 175th and had a budget so poor that the Coach had to decide if we either ordered shorts or played 2 more events.

The Coach is the farthest thing from the problem. The lack of support from the department is so poor. We need more $ and more support to compete in the top 20 on a consistent basis.

Also - thinking you can restore the program to what it was in the 70s is laughable. Golf is hard and recruiting is even harder. Arky gave the Ukranian kid Lev Grinberg a 4 year $400k deal ($100k/yr).

He’s done a good job. A new coach and change could possibly get it to the next step.

It won’t unless we get serious $$$ from the school. Diz basically funds both programs through donations and the school still finds a way to dip into their coffers.

Then get a coach like Sampson who has a vision and demands funding from the school.

It’s golf lol -$revenue

You must be a friend of his.

Only can can demand so much - you gotta carry weight also and smaller sports have no revenue to even have that discussion
