Ukraine

BCP,
Thanks for the montage of nuclear weapon near misses. It should give anyone pause for thought. The old MAD doctrine was semi-reasonable with
just a few stable nuclear powers, but it had some really
close misses. With more nuclear states, less stable
regimes all over, hypervelocity delivery systems emerging, more complex and automated systems, we are probably closer to atomic clock countdown then ever. Throw in a few folks all over that believe there
is such a thing as winnable nuclear war and some
fanatic in the launch chain, and it’s amazing we have
made 70-80 years in the nuclear weapons age.

So outstanding question I have for our military folks,
is MAD still relevant and belief in Star Wars missile defenses ?

What appeared to be a splendid little political diversion is spiraling out of control. The German chancellor is in Washington, the French Prime Minister is in Moscow trying to avert a war.

On that note, it was on the day of opening ceremonies in Beijing in 2008 that Russia invaded Georgia.

Now that the Olympics are in Beijing again…will Russia invade another country?

Time will tell!

Maybe we should offer them statehood.:rofl::rofl:

All that may be true…BUT…

As I posted…it’s also BLOODY POOR!!!

It’s the second poorest country in Europe; only Moldova (barely) is poorer. Even lowly Albania is richer.

You would think that with all those resources, it would become prosperous. Not so though.

Can anyone think why? I don’t really know.

On the Big Mac Index (cost to buy a big Mac meal) is has one of the lowest cost in the world $2.39USD. Means it has a very poor economy

They should join the SEC.

The Great Satan you left off.

Johnny: Impressive statistics. Seems this is a good explanation as to why Russia covets Ukraine.

Ukraine has historically been Russia’s bread basket. In many ways Ukraine is similar to Mexico. They have major natural resources that should rank them at the top of the worldwide economics powers.
The culprits?
Clearly the great satan and the stinky rodent according to jess2 and yes nrgcoog historically Ukraine has been one of the most corrupted country in the region. The corruption is in direct relation with Russia. The burisma example is most timely for all of your naysayers to actually study and understand why (you know already) why hynter biden got in. By the way this form of hiring is legal but for sure it has terrible optics. We all know why…or some of you do why this was portrayed by the mainstream press as an invention. Sure it was. Accusing someone of Russian collusion while hunter is collecting his money for the ice cream man Paul Harvey would say:
