USSC rules, 8-1, against a ban on gender affirming counseling for minors

On free speech grounds.

I think the last should at least make them be honest about their free speech.

It doesn’t work, is essentially abusive, has far more negative outcomes than positive ones and is just Hokum with Jesus’s name attached.

“gender affirming counseling” is that what they call gay conversion therapy now?

It’s for minors with gender dysphoria.

The article says conversion therapy for gay and transgender minors.

Definitely “pray the gay away”.

Here’s a response from the side that won:

Quote: Similarly, Adèle Keim, senior counsel at the religious legal organization Becket, said in a statement, “Kids who want help accepting their bodies should be able to get it. We’re glad the Court protected the right of counselors to help them.”

Sure

Is it conversion therapy or not? If so, plenty of studies showing the harm it can cause.

Listening to what the winning side’s spokesperson says, it’s not really that.

It’s a “suppose a minor is confused about his/her gender identity…and goes to a counselor seeking guidance…can the counselor reassure the individual that he/she is indeed the gender that his/her genitalia indicate that he/she is, and that’s it’s perfectly fine to be the gender that your genitalia indicates…and moreover…that it’s perfect OK for a therapist to tell him that” kind of thing.

I believe this law prohibits therapists from doing exactly that.

The USSC just found such a prohibition to be an unconstitutional violation of free speech.

And why would the winning side’s spokesperson spin it any other way?

That’s called propaganda.

Because that was the case they tried to make to the court, and with only one dissenting vote, they made it successfully.

The USSC reviewed the record, I’m sure, as they always do via writ of certiorari.

What Jason is omitting (on purpose) in this discussion is that California law now has the following. If a child wants to be called a girl or boy or calls himself/herself another gender the state is protecting the teachers from informing the child parents.
It equates to teachers know better than the child parents about the child’s own sexuality.
It has nothing to do with gay rights but it has everything to do with teachers imposing their will on children that they teach to vs the child parent’s authority.
It is disgusting, awfull, immoral and tragic. This is what is going on in California today.

Don’t speak for me. You always do this and it’s highly irritating.

I omitted nothing, as I was talking about the specific case we were talking about, then you come along and wave your nonsense around.

Once again, do not pretend to ever speak for me

Go ahead, expand your thoughts about what the state of California is doing in regards to what I brought up. Thank you.

No.

See I ask you something simple and easy to respond to.

I mean they are lot less likely to abuse those kids than their parents.

Your response is the exact response I expected.

No. You asked me a to comment on some bullspit you tacked on, not the original thing we were discussing. Not only that, you accused me of leaving out part of the story intentionally, which is a lie.

Stop.

I mean the parents could try not abusing their kids for being different. It’s not that hard, to not be an abusive a-hole to kids.

But yeah I don’t snitch.
