I get Utah is a state school with a big Rivalry to another B12 team, but they have been an embarrasement to the conference in football and basketball. We need to keep the image of a strong basketball conference but I thought at least they would be strong in football. We have beaten them like a drum in football and basketball.

Utah admin and fans were just hilarious snubbing the B12, and then not doing anything in the two big money making sports. What in the world makes them think they’re “worthy” of a B1G invite? Good grief, Houston football even beat them. lol

ESPN did not.
Nor did the sports writers, coaches, or the BCS playoffs.
That makes their natty claim BOGUS in my view.

Not a Utah fan, but they are the only school to have a player picked first overall in the same year (2005) in both the NFL and NBA draft - Alex Smith and Andrew Bogut.

100% disagree with you. You finished undefeated? You played against the team schedulled? They did. Go to the ncaa or cfp and complain. Utah or UCF did not create this the ncaa, bcs and cfp are responsible for this.

Utah and UCF both have BOGUS claims to football natties in my opinion.
If we recognize those…then we should also recognize all the undefeated seasons Penn State had that aren’t recognized as natties.

Its ridiculous to claim a national championship when your school was excluded from the playoff! Thats where the top teams were. THATS where the NC was decided. I would NOT be claiming any NC for Houston if we had done the same thing as UCF a few years ago, because that would be idiotic… Just like what UCF did was idiotic. Win your NY6 game, be happy with a top 10 rank…THATS what we did, in 76, 79 and 2015. We have had a number of seasons in the past where multiple teams ended up undefeated. Everyone before UCF just accepted where they were ranked at season’s end and didnt worry about it. I remember those Penn State teams in 68 and 69 who didnt lose a game and thought they were every bit as good as Texas or Alabama.
I mean the good thing that came out of that bogus 2017 national championship for UCF was a Big 12 invite, an increase in attendance, increased publicity, and more contributions.
We can point and laugh at them all we want but they did more than us since 2017.

Both finished undefeated. Thetefore they can claim a National Championship. It is not their fault that they were excluded from the bcs or cfp. Take your angst and bogus comments to the ncaa. THEY/the ncaa created this.

I can be disappointed in the system and still know UCF and Utah didn’t win a national championship.
SEC? What is going to happen is the playoff will expand, probably to 16…in order to help out the Alabama’s and Ole Miss’s of the football world who came close but didnt make it this year. The SEC isnt happy and they will get it done. P4s wont have a problem with it and will support it. Our own league will support it. EVERYONE who should be in, will be in. Then we’ll play. I expect Big 12 to have 2-3 teams in, year to year.

UCF was the National Champion, per the un-biased computer metrics…case closed
