They did win one with Jamarcus Russell, though. And Jake Coker, Stetson Bennett, and Will Howard have won titles in recent years.
I won’t be happy till we can get one yard on the ground when needed more often than not
No turnovers and less penalties is a positive. Also seems our tacking has improved. I hope to see better blocking with our O line and more imagination with our scheme and play calling. D seems to be coming along.
I don’t believe we’ll see any more wholesale switching out of the o-line. Not saying there won’t be a few more swaps if someone gets hurt or is not in game shape yet for 4 quarters of big12 football, but Willie probably has a good idea, thanks to the first 2 games, who he’ll use to make holes for our backs to run, and give Weigman time to hit our receivers. I think our defense will be “on a Mission” Friday night and can see us ending up + on turnovers. 31-17 Coogs…
Ummm… it’s Jawalrus Ruffles…
This should be your avatar… The Dude!
I’d much rather win the way we did, than lose in a shootout to UTEP after back to back ranked wins in ‘09 lmao
I view offense and defense and two distinct components of a football team. I’d like to see an Art Briles style offense that racks up 650 yards per game. Furthermore, I’d like to see that paired with a Willie Fritz style defense that gives up only 1.1 points per quarter. I’m guessing that combination would consistently win football games.
HCWF game plan is all about controlling the football and the clock. You keep the ball out of the opposition and by definition we have more chance to win that the opposition. We are “searching” for a balanced offense. We are not quite there yet. Hopefully we will make a “step forward” with the CU game. HCWF is still building our “foundation” Tough to see what is coming up next so we have to be patient.
That’s my point. If you’re racking up 650 yards and losing to every top 20 program you play are you really “doing that much?”
Why do you keep saying either or? Why not both like in 2015. We’ve seen what a good defense and offense can do. So don’t insult us fans like we don’t know good football.
We have been told to be patient with Kim Helton, Dana Dimel, Tony Levine, Major Applewhite, and Dana Holgersen. Anytime there was criticism of the above coaches, we were told to be quiet and be patient.
I’m not insulting you good fans. You’re insulting yourselves with those first half gameday threads.
Did you watch the first half? Come on.
I think you’re the one missing my point, actually. Now we’re still losing to every top 20 program we play and not even putting up numbers.
You’re at least entertaining most fans.
It’s a weird take to imply that people should be happy with a competent defense and impotent offense against two weak opponents. This is not an offense that has looked like it can win games if the defense has a bad day. Maybe the defense will never have a bad day, but if the end result is still a 5-loss season, you’re “not doing much.”
Basically, it’s better to be mediocre and exciting than mediocre and boring.
That said, I see potential in the offense and think it’s too early to write them off. Maybe next week.
I want us to score 1 more POINT than our opponent in every game. I really don’t give a crap if he gets more YARDS. But I guess armchair quarterbacks do…
POINTS are for fans of the game. YARDS are for fans of the “fantasy game”….
UH beat top 20 Kansas State last year, and almost pulled a rabbit out of the hat at top 20 Oklahoma. Do I wish Fritz had a better record against top 20 teams? Sure. But given his first two years, his performance hasn’t been a total failure.
