We MUST scrap this Offense

After last night we went from the 90th ranked rushing offense to 99th. That’s fine if you’re flinging it around and piling up passing yards. We don’t have that either. 99th in rushing is not a good thing when you state you want to have a ball control offense.

I know the bad rushing stats were exaggerated due to sacks with Tune having -38 yards rushing. But in regulation, our RBs averaged 3.7 yards per carry for a total of 100 yards

I agree. This whole team plays their rears off. It’s the play calling that has me concerned. I think we are holding back some plays for SMU.

The Ravens played good teams. Yes we’re riding a good defense, but more we’re riding bad opponents. We gave up 38 and lost by 17 to the only average team we played

Let’s not say he is bad. Let’s say he can beat bad teams. Let’s see how he does against good teams.
Without question the O has been sub par and Dana knows it or he would try to score before the end of the half. He killed the clock in three games. That is lack of faith.

I don’t think Dana has intentionally given up before halftime the last 2 games. Last game was poor decision after poor decision that ran the clock to nothing.

This week we were 2nd and 21 after a Tune sack. I think if Tune doesnt get sacked, we’re trying to score. Up 14 and getting the ball in the 2nd half with a long distance to get a 1st, I think most coaches do the same.

I was surprised that SDSU was actually the underdog in their game with AF yesterday.

Mud ??

WRONG !!

His job is to build a program that wins and competes for championships every year. The AD is then responsible for butts in the seats.

6-1
Reading some of your posts we ought to be 1-6.
Are we perfect?
No.
How many games were cancelled last season?
We were hot and then cold against teetech in our first game. Last night I saw a similar game. We were coming off how many days since our last game? You add the delay and our team seemed out of synch.
We still managed the win. It is obvious that our OL, TE’s and RB’s need to block better. I have no doubt that we will against smu. You take a closer look at the following:
Horrible blocking, dropped passes, bad routes, blown assignments and yes questionable officiating this had the making of a loss. But still managed to win this game. I am not so sure it would have been the case just a few weeks ago. You can all bet our entire squad will be ready to work and improve…RIGHT NOW. Have faith and enjoy the fact because it is a fact that we are 6-1.

This is more an OL issue than an “offense” issue. “Scrapping the offense”…nothing about the phrase in the context of what we saw last night makes sense. If you looked at the post where the grades of each OL was posted, you know where our weaknesses are as do other teams. That was taken advantage of last night. Here is what you can attempt to do. Make those individuals better. Tell me how that goes.

I thought we had artificial turf?

We have to stop the 2 yard runs, if the run isn’t working pass the ball. Also Tune not being able to run or deciding not too really hurts the run game

I was furious with the play calling until an ET flew in, seized the physical image of our OC, and called
the first play in OT. Or maybe it was divine intervention!

This offense only put up 231 yards more or less, and the 7 points on the return cannot be attributed to the offense. Zero points in the second half isn’t going to equal many wins.
We need an offense that can put together some of those beautiful long consistent drives that were once a part of UH Football.

What are you talking about? Sampson won 22 games in his 2nd season after going .410 winning 13 games in his 1st. Taking the team from 10th to third in the league. Fans were certainly frustrated about soft scheduling and confounding losses that absolutely kicked us out of a tourney bid in those early seasons but there was a plethora of good signs and omens from the program. Mainly that Sampson’s signature of team toughness and grit was being emulated in the program.

CDH’s signature is supposedly prolific offenses yet we have seen the team consistently put together consecutive drives and multiple quarters where the offense has been inept. It’s Year 3. The signature that we’re developing with decent to great defense is attributable to Belk and not Dana. Y’all doing the “this is fine” meme and acting like those of us who have questions, concerns and doubts are crazy while saying we can’t argue with a 6-1 record that y’all constantly hide behind is quite disingenuous.

Proof will be in the pudding this Saturday.

Expectations and circumstances change. This ain’t the same level of program that it was 18 years ago. You been paying attention?

I once went to a UH vs Longhorns game and our Cougars scored 0.

Also went to a UH - Rice game and we scored 7.

Both games coached by Bill Yeoman.

Did not scrap his Offense.

In our Bowl Game we won 35-0. Same Offense.

Perhaps things will “click” next Saturday.

We aren’t going to play balls to wall on offense when we have a turnover machine at QB. Its not happening not now, not next week, not ever.

No system will work if you have an offensive line that can’t block.

I bet Penn State and Okie State would have loved “ugly wins” last night.
