lmaooooo
It would be funny as hell if our first was over them, but at the rate were going that won’t happen.
We might not get a 25 yr run and no one today is but we’re not a stepping stone anymore or at least it’s way tougher bc they have everything they need here. P5 and great facilities
ANY B12 win will be a huge relief in 23.
The eventual kicking of Dana 2 the curb is going to be horrible enough.
He is going 2 b awful.
Cant also go into 24 w/out a B12 FB win.
Yeah, it’s 2023. Everyone is a stepping stone. Florida State, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame have all been poached in the recent past. Michigan’s coach, who is also an alumnus of the school, has one eye on the NFL. Ain’t nobody safe out here; you just gotta hire the best coach you can, make sure they’re fairly compensated, and if they leave, that’s life.
The one thing that’s been made absolutely clear over the last few years is that you should never, under any circumstances, give a guy a buyout that you can’t pay.
Everyone is a stepping stone school. Notre Dame lost a coach to LSU.
It’s not the 1960s/70s anymore
Agree. When your FSU’s, OU’s, and Notre Dame’s of the world get poached then EVERYONE can lose their HC. Even the top top coaches might go pro so literally no college is immune. You CANNOT be worried about losing a coach which is how we ended up where we are now. You have to go out and get the best one you can. Our track record of success is clear - go outside the current regime and get a hot, young, energetic, motivated, offensive coach.
Briles could have been our yeoman … played here / create a legacy like coach Y… would have gotten paid eventually… prob no rape scandal either … hindsight !!
Look at the butts actually in the stadium against Sam and you will see why we will probably never be a destination school. We got so lucky with Sampson but I don’t expect lightening to strike twice
Lol I am not that hopeless on the possibility of being great. Colorado was 1-11 last year and attendance was dead for most of their games. Look at them now.
It is not easy but it can happen here again like it did with Sumlin and Herman. Only the next time, we could possibly keep such a coach longer due to the greater financial resources coming our way.
Of the three, Briles, Sumlin and Herman, we might have been able to keep Art now.
You will be waiting.a long time to get a football coach like CBY.
Sir, you sure have a lot of rules.
No one has this anymore outside who? Alabama? Georgia? Maybe a weird outlier like Iowa. I think the only jobs that are poach free are upper big 10 (Ohio state, Penn state and Michigan) and upper SEC (bama, Georgia, maybe florida or Tennessee). And each of those could lose to the nfl. The other 125 fbs schools are stepping stone jobs.
The landscape has changed just a little since yeoman got fired/resigned almost 40 years ago.
Or maybe we dodged the bullet with that one.
Agree - but at this point we have to make UH the PREMIERE stepping stone school.
Meaning - UH BOR should be telling coaches that if they win here for 2 years, then they can get a better job after
Heck, a Pardee would be wonderful! I just want a coach who is willing to put his heart and soul into the job, and convey some enthusiasm to the fans, players and potential recruits. We don’t need a miracle worker, but we need someone totally committed to the effort required to be a successful head coach.
If we had Pardee level coordinators, we’d likely be ok despite CDH
I’d take a slumber party of 13 year old girls with a Ouji Board conjuring up spirits of coaches past over Dana.
