We had dinner in a bistro/liquor store in Bayon. The owner brought us a sparkling wine and asked if I could identify what fruit made it. It was so delicious and was made from pear.
When we were leaving I asked about buying a bottle of Calvados. He brought a bottle he said “this is not the most expensive but, it is the best”. I shared some with Bill Akers at a tailgate, He thought it was the smoothest whiskey he had tasted. I explained it was apple brandy. Honestly, it was smoother than Mel Torme.
If you don’t know Mel Torme, look him up.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Big Trouble in Little China
Kill Bill
The Warriors
The Patriot
LOTR trilogy
The Shawshank Redemption
Cast Away
The Martian
A lot of these were in heavy rotation on TNT for a long time and would constantly suck me in.
Oh and Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Gets me every time I see it playing.
Stop what you’re doing and just watch it if it’s on -
Shawshank Redemption

Good Will Hinting

Maybe Bayeux? Calvados is awesome. Cider is fantastic too. Yes, I do know Mel Torme. Love those singers with an amazing voice.
Yeah Bayeaux
Bagger Vance
Remember the Titans
Hoosiers
Come on Chris, Bayeux. This is where the world’s most famous tapestry is at:
Right now it is “on tour” in England.
I almost forgot to mention the only “Rom Dram” that I can watch over and over again and still enjoy.
Dear Frankie
Lately, I’ve repeatedly watched 65.
From another galaxy, an astronaut (Adam Driver) survives a crash landing on Earth, 65 million years BC, accompanied by one other survivor, a 9 year old girl.
Dances with Dinosaurs.![]()
I’ll add another to this list that I usually watch once a year or so when I just want to be entertained a fun movie.
Joe Versus the Volcano.
Big cast, Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, Lloyd Bridges and more. Really get a kick watching the luggage guy.
Many of the movies on that list were indeed very good.
But I have to take a notable exception to one of them: “Apocalypse Now.”
That film, together with “The Thin, Red Line” would have to rank as among the all-time STUPIDEST movies ever made about war.
There are plenty of bad war movies
Lawrence of Arabia at #43?
Ridiculous.
Where are all of the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan and Jungle Jim movies?
The Bridge Over the River Kwai, Zulu, Blues Brothers, No Country For Old Men, Step Brothers
No list is going to please everyone. This list is flawed by definition since it selects SOME media outlets.
Example amoung others. To not have:
Trading Places or Used Car with Kurt Russell is a scandal of collosal proportion.
This list is an abomination.
