What is the matter with these people?

What is happening to America? Collective madness (on both left and right) seems to be afflicting this great nation. At a time when we need national unity and rational thought to guide our decisions we get social dysfunction and utter irrationality steering the nation towards the unforgiving abyss of history, one from which there is no recovery!

I ask myself that every day and twice on Sundays with the thinking and nonsense and actions taking place within this country. It’s like way too much lead has gotten into the water over a long period of time.

Can you provide some context for this photo ?
When, where , how many , source, etc.
From the banner they seem to be affiliated with
some religious organization. And one genius has a sign that says “Social distancing stops herd immunity”. Looks like a smallish crowd, perhaps; hard for me to tell from that perspective.

Infowars protest in April.

It’s not so much this pic in particular, but what it represents, a microcosm of the anti-science, anti-social lunacy smothering the nation. I don’t know why, but I felt acutely depressed when I saw this pic on twitter. Maybe I overthink matters.

Quit Facebook as a New Years resolution, maybe for 2021 I should resolve to quit twitter.

When I think of what is wrong with the US in particular these days it isn’t a lack of information, it is a a lack of emotional intelligence to think critically through all of the information we have at our finger tips.

These days you really have to be mindful of what is being presented to you because politicians, marketers, social media sites have gotten very savvy of manipulating the flow of information to influence people. i.e. if you see a targeted ad enough times, you will feel the urge to buy something…or ideas that may sound nuts the first time you see them start to seem validated when you see a repetition of them in the information that is fed to you. We are fed information these days, instead of seeking it out with a critical and open mind.

So yeah COVID comes along, and people are so warped by their ideals that they disregard common sense and and basic social empathy.

I’ll accept that narrative as certainly plausible.
But it seems to only effect Americans in regards to
covid. The graphs that show how most advanced nations have gotten covid to a manageable problem
vs the American situation are just simply stunning
and depressing. I have a personal opinion as to
why, but expressing it would be wrong on our board.

Somewhat political (critical of both sides) mostly economic but in my opinion insightful in how the 1% really thinks.

For those on one side of the aisle who think they are the good guys, no, your side is controlled by the 1% as well.

Stimulus checks are running out, PPP money is running out, eviction moratoriums are running out.

When was this picture taken? Did those folks burn and loot somewhere near here? Were there any cops killed? Anyone take over any city blocks and start raping and shooting each other?
Serious questions because there are a few folks here who act like the Devil himself has emerged out of the fog.
Just simple questions so now I had better go to my corner and be a good Coog!

Yes they are on point. A lot of the delusional is stemming for the elites trying to push the narrative that everything is fine so we can keep propping up the financial markets for financial and political gain. The drive to open schools is primarily motivated by those that want to maintain the status quo to the protect the psyche of the financial markets

Even that is their mindset, it is stupidly short-sighted. If they wanted protect the economy in the long-run, they should have pushed polices and narratives that would have would have gotten the virus under control. But as the people in the video said, the markets are completely out of touch with reality…but it can only last for so long. The markets are going to crash hard when the stimulus runs and mortgage moratoriums run out.

This summer wave has me worried about depression level crap hitting the fan that could have been avoided if the elites weren’t so obsessed with propping the financial markets up in the short term.

Edit:. She is right that the Democrats are complicit too. If they really had the urgency to make sure people are financially protected, they wouldn’t have drafted a stimulus bill with a bunch of non-starters like marijuana legalization in it.

I laugh also at the folks with the cameras. What exactly are they taking pictures of. Are they going to be sitting in their living room in 10 years eating popcorn and drinking hot cocoa and reminiscing about some unimportant and unknown person in a photo.

You are right Mystic, it is all professional wrestling to keep us dazzled so the elites make more money. The politicians sound like professional wrestlers now.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that the Tech Elites are making out like bandits.

The Elites are on both sides.

After they finished with their photo op, they stormed the police substation down the block, fire bombed it to the ground, then set the rest of the street on fire, looted the Target, clashed with the National Guard by throwing bundles of bricks pre-set up for them, burned a church or two, set up an Autonomous Zone, conducted a block party, had a summer of love, demanded that the police be defunded, painted BLM in yellow paint with the mayor down the street, caught Coronavuris since they weren’t wearing their masks, and that was just last night.

They can’t wait until this weekend when the rest of the American crazies will join them.

I don’t know about looting, murdering, burning, et.al, but I do know that these folk’s attitude is contributing to hundreds of thousands deaths and immeasurable amount of suffering.

Please join me in praying that my greed be healed and my ignorance enlightened.

And in another thread you said I was incorrect about your political based view of reality…

Lol they do act like pro wrestlers.

But yes if you strip out the sensationalist social issues and hollow ideals that each party uses to galvanize hard likes between the left and the right…the majority of the middle class is mostly in the same place with regards to what would be beneficial for them. That said a lot of those social issues are important so not taking away from anyone, but they shouldn’t always be politicized so people view them through the lens of their political affiliations

It’s just sad that COVID had become yet another string for politicians to use to drag people by.
