I was just thinking that Fabs got that S16 run in during the season he got injured…
The NCAA Tournament expanded from 32 to 64 teams in 1985…so Reid would’ve been shorted a few “Round of 64” games that post-85 players would get counted for them.

Also, it’s surprising how close all the NCAA Tournament games were for Phi Slama Jama. The only ones decided by more than 10 points were Villanova and Louisville in 1983.

If you take the rosters from 1982-1984, the players that played all three years were:
Michael Young
Hakeem Olajuwon
Alvin Franklin
Reid Gettys
Eric Dickens
Derek Giles
Renaldo Thomas
Gary Orsak
So all the above players were part of teams that won twelve NCAA Tournament games. Quite the accomplishment that very few players ever experience.

I believe it’s a tie between White and Gettys.
Both have 10 NCAA Tournament wins.
Totals do not include post season conference tournaments, only NCAA Tournament games.
Also, the totals includes actual PT and not just sitting the bench.
There were tournament games UH won, but Gettys didn’t have PT.
During Gettys 1984-85 senior season, the Coogs didn’t participate in the NCAA Tournament because of a 16-14 record.
Hakeem and Reid each went 4-1 for three straight years.
That’s 12-3 for each.
Mike Young adds a loss to Villanova in 1981. So he was 12-4.

Gettys only saw PT in two tournament games his freshman season.
