Dana was like Bill O’Brien when it came to his offense he was always looking over his play caller shoulder and last year took over play calling at mid season. This year with the offense sucking no one would admit who was calling plays.
Hours were negotiable. Being competitive was not negotiable. Winning was a nice-to-have.
He could have just been thirsty Phil….he hadn’t had a drink from the car to the bar….
Were you there? Because I kid you not, he and TF rolled up in a black town car and rolled straight inside to the bar. Lol.
Now he’s got all the time in the world to do that with TF
Congratulations! You are the first post I have seen that suggests we bring Holgorsen back. He needs to stand in line behind Briles, Sumlin and Herman.
I was SO happy when we hired him and it pulled me from depression of what now as a floundering G5.
And what I see-
A guy that nailed his skill level well to get good gigs and had a ton of $$ to enable his lifestyle. He found his way back to his adopted hometown with even more money and access to his haunts and pals.
Seems great until the balance shifts and you abandon the grind choosing more pleasure than actual work that a job at this level requires. I recall the Belk interview last year where he contrasted the time requirements from his passed experiences with other staffs he’d been with.
Sad to see it
Be careful guys, red80 will get angry because you’re spreading rumors of Dana being a drunk.
And any of Heltons kids
No thanks
Some workers need a “boss” to push them to excel. Dana was a great OC. I think he can be a great OC again.
I’ve copied and pasted this exact quote from the article here and The Veer at least three times.
I saw him in the club section at the 2022 UH Memphis basketball game for maybe one half. He took some pictures with a few fans. I really wasn’t sure if he was drinking. I would probably say no but I didn’t see either way.
Agreed. I was elated when we got him. Thought it was a home run hire but I truly believe that P5 to G5, “I’m doing Houston a favor by taking a step down but for more money” was his ultimate downfall. That attitude and approach isn’t going to bring success.
And you’re exactly right about all that money and it being easier to hide in Houston with the late nights and drinking than it is in Morgantown.
CDH just isn’t mature enough to coach a college program in a big city with a wad of cash and a billionaire buddy.
A better fit for him would be somewhere isolated from those vices and for less money. I hope he lands on his feet in Iowa.
It was Dana who said on national TV “I can’t coach this s#!t, I can’t fu**ing coach this s#!t”
He was right about that.
Do you drink anything with alcohol? If you do, then, does it make you drunk? I don’t know why ppl want to be psychologist.
Perfect example of the Peter Principle
Day your born from childhood to on up we all become psychologist. Why they act they way they do?, what do they want from me? Why my boss doesn’t like me? Why my child did that? Why my wife or husbands speaks the way they do to me And others? Goes on and on. We are all amateur psychiatrist if you believe it or not.
You win games on Wednesdays.
Honestly, it’s a lifestyle choice, to put it politically. If the 5pm happy hour call is a siren, that’s okay. But not for a dude making 4m+. You owe it to all the folks that rely on you to work your ass off. And if you don’t understand that, then you shouldn’t have the job.
Overall he was an a-hole who lost too many games. Can’t do both.
