I have season tickets but live in Cali. I always try and make sure they’re used. Last night, my sister took my niece. They live three blocks off Montrose and know the back streets of Third Ward to avoid freeways but last night my sister said it took 43 minutes to go about 5 miles. They arrived when it was 11-8 at the under 12 timeout.
I don’t think I’ve ever made excuses. What I have always said is that our attendance will get better over time as we continue to invest in our programs so there’s not really anything to worry about as Rome wasn’t built overnight. We have 3 decades of apathy and disengagement to overcome but based on where we were to where we are now we are well on our way and all this handwringing and chicken littleing is completely unnecessary.
But if you want to get your legacy breeding project going to help increase the number of “traditional” students in 20 years then more power to you, boss.
No excuses! Lol
I told my niece to drop out of Lamar HS to attend sports full time.
Chris, not sure if your avid follower/watcher of CBB or just on occasion watch it. The reason i ask is bc the answer you’re asking is very easy. If the Coogs are schd to be on as 1 of the Natl gms then its either 6:00 or 8:00 start times for those in Central time zone. It doesn’t change week to week, been like that forever. The teams/schd of gms won’t allow all UH at home to have 8 pm starts. This is Not new. Lastly if it was ESPN+ gm then it has more flexibility n would have started at 7:00 Central. See UT last night-- 7:00 pm, see Oklahoma-- 7:00 start-- ESPN+ . So if they’re on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU during the week-- Mon-Wed it’s 6 or 8 pm starts, no in btw.
Hope that helps!
Edit: all set up to get the maximum # of eyeballs to be able to Watch the game that is schd , not the opposite. They can’t do 7 & 9 pm Central time start during week, bc then you have people in Cincinnati trying to watch a game or heaven forbid attend a game that starts at 10:00 for them, if its the 2nd half of DH on ESPN or ESPN2. It’s really pretty simple n that part is not changing, unless we want All the Coogs gm to be relegated to ESPN +… uhh no thk you.
You bet I am an avid fan. I checked what you wrote. What do you notice from the espn page?
Clearly the BIG12 is getting the short end of the stick. sec schools are getting a much favorable kick off time. This is not me writing it but espn own website. Can this be adjusted/changed in the future? For Coogs fans sake I sure hope so. It would only be fair to the BIG12.
A game scheduled at 6 CT/7pm EST is not the best time for either time zone. Case in point look at what times sec schools play their EST games.
I don’t want to get into back/forth!! But again i gave you reasons on why they can’t do 7 or 730 Central start time like you suggested in still be 1 of the Natl gms. That’s why i question if you were an avid fan, otherwise u would have already known that wasn’t possible. Last night we were 1 of 2 BIG12 gms on Natl TV.
The other gm was TxTech & Baylor… guess what time it started at – 8:00 p.m… At least we weren’t ESPN + . These gms, times weren’t decided last week. Done way b4 season began. I’m sure you printed ![]()
Your Coog schd out in Oct. What you see now, is what you saw in Oct-- time, TV schd.
Teams/ gms are done way in advance but doesn’t always work out the way it’s intended. Case in point the UH vs BYU was on ESPN+ w 2 ranked teams playing. Guess what BYU was picked – 13 of 14 in pre-season rankings. So that gm ended bigger than expected.
BIG12 is big deal right now, ESPN is doing nothing to go against that. Ok, typed way more than i needed to but really trying to help you, w/o having you change the goal post.
.
I don’t think this is the place to post or question our attendance at games. This is a fan forum so most likely, the members here attend games.
We have a an enrollment population of 40+k each year and that has been consistent since the early 2000s. Maybe members here who are watching the tele or at the games and lose their minds over empty seats at tip-off should deflect their anger elsewhere.
We’re not the f***ing problem.
Wtf are you talking about. Attendance is at a high and last night was a really great atmosphere.
Some of you idiots need to find something else to complain about.
CKS has praised our fans and support and even called out people who have questioned it because of a few who don’t show.
This is the trade off when you sell all the seats for the season and the same people have the rights every game. They are going to come to all games.

There is a line of students waiting to get into every game. The student section is always full. You would know this if you actually attended.
I question the motives of those who constantly bring this up. Obviously got an axe to grind.
No axe to grind, just very very noticeable on the Tube. I live out of town in NC. I figured it was traffic in Houston.
Guys, it’s an easy solution. Just mandate that all alumni must live in the Third Ward. What we need is a traditional alumni base, like UT and ATM.
Nothing like aiming complaints about attendance in a forum of people who actually attend.
That is more than 2 sentences! ![]()
Ha. Yea but it’s a special poster that takes effort to get point across to. So i did one long vs say 10 posts. Score 1-1.
Hey, I’m fine with that, Jesse. I get it …AND encourage you to write as much as you want. Just something about a goose and a gander. Lol! All good.
have yall seriously forgotten how bad attendance was before Sampson???
I did my part…I lived in 3rd ward for 15 years!
