Who thought we'd be better than last year?

Whoa on the.comment about WVBs’s playing time on this team. There’s been more than a handful of games we could have used his shot, and he got to the point he was good on the defensive end because of his savvy. I think he could have been the difference in at least 2 of our losses

We played 10 guys yesterday. We are crazy deep. I think everyone coming back has room to grow.

I look forward to the day when we use expressions like reloading rather than rebuilding.

I thought we’d be as good as last year’s conference team but not as good as LY’s tourney team. It wasn’t until 6 minutes left to go in OSU that I felt we were as good as last year’s tourney team.

The team that pounded it on Michigan for 40 minutes last year was a very, very tough team. (and I don’t mean in an over-achieving way…I mean a very good bunch of players coached to execute their game plan.) But that Michigan team was miles better than the Cincy team that beat us in Memphis.

We’re about there though. We just need Alley and Brady to find an offensive rhythm for the inevitable times when Corey or Jarreau go cold.

I thought we might be a little better but had no idea we would be this good this year. It’s hard to say about next year. I hope for a similar season.
Go Coogs!

Not me. I thought they’d be good but nothing like this. Regardless of what they do from this point on, it’s been a season to remember!

I just worry about losing the senior leadership from Galen, Davis and Brady. The conference will be a lot tougher next year and you can’t teach experience.

Me. And I dare say we will be just as good next year as we are this year.

Leadership is very important. That is one good thing about 7 of our 10 contributors being back and getting big minutes this year. They will have been there, done that. It’s also why I love Mills coming in early and redshirting. He may not be on the court, but he is still getting experience in the culture and game speed in practice scrimmages etc.

Mills. Yep, I’ll predict it now. 2019 -2020 AAC sixth man of the year. Our third in a row!

woops. Had to edit because apparently I forgot what year it is.

Valid points. I still think losing Galen and Davis’s production will be a significant hit to repeat as conference champions.

Land a grad transfer like Daniel Utomi and we will be really, really good next year. Legit top 10-15 team all season.

Many of us who followed the team last season felt we would be even better this season.

As for next season I think there might be some occasional growing pains. But being better should not just be associated with the total wins/loss record. Next year’s team may have a very high ceiling whereas this year’s Coogs have been remarkably consistent.

I’m not so sure about the conference being so much better next year.

What team is going to be
"so much better " ?

Yea, next year we could easily have four or five more losses but go deep in the tourney anyway. This team will have been under a lot of lights by that time.

there will be better transfers than a 6’6 big …when we are only losing 1 big and adding 2

I thought we would be good, but not this good. Who among the faithful thought UH would be 33-3?

Next year, we might be a better team. Another 30 win season.

Memphis, UConn, and Wichita. UH and Cincy should be better too, but not by a whole bunch. Better doesnt necessarily mean more wins for us. Better means the league gets more respect which makes a conference loss to a good team less of a big deal.

Utomi has shot nearly 39% from 3 for his career and for the last 2 years hit nearly 3 a game each year. Based on looking at a few clips he has a really nice stroke. I’m guessing he generates a lot of interest and will be one of the more coveted grad transfers.

Regular season exceeded my expectations but I did have hope for a Sweet 16 this year. Hope we can get hot and surprise everyone in a big way.

For next year, looked at Gotham including how Towson used him. I think he will blossom not be forced to play under the basket. He can both shoot and handle the ball well and will add a different dimension on offense.
