Sorry…
When I did some “cut and paste” I failed to edit out some irrelevant info.
Those were “first place votes” from the AP Poll.
I edited them out.

Yep.
You hit the nail on the head.
Pretty sure you’ve known Willie about as long as I have, maybe longer.
Go Coogs!
Let’s pay him Tx Tech $money.
With a new 5 year contract.
Willie Fritz is a professional. He puts in 100% and he does it the right way. My season tixs are adjacent to the coaches families and they are all one big family. Wish we could have hired this man a long time ago. He would have kept us competitive a good chunk of time.
I hear others on here say he aint done anything. Agree but im not asking him to win national championships. Im good with competing for B12 championships always and winning one ever three to four years. He is on track.
One of the things I love most about Coogfans are the folks who are so hot to spend other people’s money.
Threads like this always come at the exact wrong time.
I believe some people here did the same thing for Holgy when he managed to win 12 games off of the weakest schedule in UH history.
I love Willie. I think he’s a good and decent man and a heck of a coach. But, this thread is typical Coogfans. A poorly timed discussion of a possible “solution” to a “problem” that doesn’t exist.
If Willie gets us to the playoffs, he’ll get his bump, and more importantly, UH would actually have the $ for the bump.
I sure hope you guys didn’t jinx the Coogs with your crazy talk… Utah and Morgantown are tough places to play. Not to mention we still got some old school rivals to play with coaches who have their jobs on the line.
Maybe wait until the off-season for this kinda thread?
Go Coogs (Get Willie that bump!)
He is doing great. But I remember when they extended Dana and knew it was too soon. College football is a week to week roller coaster. He is on the high right now. Hopefully he stays there.
Let’s be patient and diligent
I actually agree with you.
I didn’t start the thread.
I just added some factual “perspective” for the discussion.
One of the “unspoken” truths about Willie is…
…because he worked his way up from JUCO (where he was painting the field and driving the bus), to D2, to FCS, to G5, to, finally, UH…
…his main concern “remains” his Family, his staff, and his players.
In other words, he does it right.
Always has, always will.
I wasn’t advocating for a pay raise (although I agree with you, he will get one).
I was pointing out how UH is getting more for their $ than any other ranked program; perhaps more than any program in the country?
I don’t think he needs, wants, or would advocate for a pay raise.
One’s quality of life doesn’t change a lot going from 4.5M to 10M.
The focus this week should be, and is, on beating Utah.
Go Coogs!
Thanks for putting it out there. You and plenty of others have stated, keep ascending, and it will come. We can bet that Willie doesn’t want to do contract negotiations right now.
I don’t really believe in “jinxes”, but bad karma is a thing. Are they similar?
While I agree that now is NOT the time to discuss a “pay raise”, a lifetime contract (the title of thread) would have to incorporate pay in the discussion.
Yes. Karma and Jinx’s are close cousins, IMO.
I agree, but nothing has happened so far for a “lifetime extension”. Foolish talk rn
The OP did QUALIFY his position
I hope he stays here, but he also said Tulane was his last job and left.
If Texas and A&M keep losing, I could see him wanting to go to either of those places, if offered. I mean imagine what he could do with all those resources. He’s never really had that.
I don’t want that to happen obviously, but it’d be hard to be mad at him about it.
Regardless, having him as our coach now is awesome, and I’m grateful for it.
Ugliest 12 win season I’ve ever seen
If Willie’s smart (which I think he is), he’ll make sure to try and get his OC a nice raise.
Gotta keep your hunting dogs hungry
People get promoted based on potential.
They get rewarded for performance.
$$$ falls into the “reward” category.
You’ve clearly never worked in a union shop
My entire life was spent in merit-based systems.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Lifetime contract…No.
Statue…No.
Another well intentioned fan wanting to create a provocative thread.
“Fritz has won at each and every university that he has coached at through his 33-year head coaching career, and his final stop at Houston will be no different.”
I’m more convinced on this being Fritz final job than I was Briles, Sumlin, or Herman staying (I can still see that eye twitching before the Memphis game.)
