Willie Fritz Lifetime Contract

How about “Holgy couldn’t hold Fritz’s XXXXstrap.”

Holgy is one those guys that are fun to go fishing and play golf with but a nightmare to work with. I know he was after a check but I bet he regrets leaving the ncaa passing record holder.

I was talking about Dana with an Okst fan that was in school when Dana was there as an OC. He told me that while Dana was in Stillwater, he lived at a hotel and managed to get banned from the hotel bar. Lol

Be careful what you wish for. According to AI, college coaches that get large extensions with large buyouts often have a noticeable drop in performance. It’s not just Holgy.

Yeah Willie deserves a raise, he’s outperforming his salary and our resources.

He’s generating more revenue for our program with ticket sales and bowl appearances.

A lot of schools will target him but I trust Willie when he says, “this will be his last stop”.

But we need to compensate him fairly for his performance, Willie, Slade, and several members of the offensive staff deserve a raise.

What? Only 9th! How did the a$$ies let that happen. That’s the one thing that they were sure to be the number 1.

Why would he want a lifetime agreement? He pretty well already has that and no doubt will be given raises as the years go by…With a lifetime contract Willie may be hurting himself…

IMO giving Willie a lifetime contract would be an act of self-preservation on our part. We know the guy can win without Weigman. He’s done it everywhere he’s been. For once in most of our lifetimes and the rest since BY we have a high quality coach that’s probably willing to retire with us. It’s been a long time. There will be ups and downs but I’m willing to roll the dice on the Old Man.

But it’s not my money either.

Never mind on the lifetime contract.

Long-term is different than lifetime. Long term 3 years maybe

There is zero reason to do more than a four year contract regardless.

We are in 6th place in the Big 12 right now. Our standards are so low it’s comical. Deer lowered people, let’s focus on Cinci.

Im sorry this is ridiculous. I would sign him to a minimum 5-year extension. We are “6th” place because of the schedule because we are getting all the top teams on the road, not because team the team is bad. Overall, in Willie year 3, I am happy with the progress he is making. If we played Utah or Tech at home, I am certain we win those.

I think you guys would be better off being a horns fan if this is the expectation.

Winning the games where they’re scheduled is the requirement, though. Our W-L record isn’t because of the schedule - it’s because we weren’t good enough to beat two ranked teams on the road. OSU might claim that they would have beaten us in Stillwater. So what?

He’s done a great job and is currently signed through 2028. Extending him 5 years would take that to 2033, and that would be unjustified and fiscally stupid.

Fritz is making $4.5 M/year, plus performance bonuses.

He probably would like an extension, but I’m guessing what he is really wants is enough money for coordinators/assistant coach salaries and NIL.

I agree, some of them deserve it.

With the 24 team playoff coming in 2027.
It is put up or shut up time next season for Fritz.

This time we play a full strength LSU team to open up the season and go from there.
