Asked who?
Nobody that knows anything gave you that answer @Youngloyalcougar2 .
We are in the Big 12, you don’t just get to pass on baseball.
If there was a sport to not care about it would have been women’s basketball.

Apparently Pezman.
They obviously don’t if Whitting is still at the helm. He should’ve been let go a few years ago.
We can agree to disagree on that issue. Guys are leaving great situations, after getting to play, all the time. The portal is full of those kids. They are also full of kids who did well at the school they are at now, but want to better themselves. Also, if you go that route, you are not going to win right away. You need proven players right away.
Actually one of Whitting’s first decent team fielded almost all freshmen in 2013. I believe it was also Frank Anderson’s first year with the program.
I am paraphrasing but someone high up told me that. I asked about football and basketball. Then when I asked about baseball… it wouldn’t look good on this person. They just don’t put much time and effort into it like the other 2 main sports. Doesn’t seem like and it’s obvious it’s not a concern or priority.

That’s it in a nutshell. 1) FB, 2) MBKB, 3) everything else.
Baseball is a clear #3 over all of the other sports , women or men.
Being in the tournament and actually being good enough to host a regional is worthy….getting past a super and into the CWS would be huge.
But for those of you that were around and saw the big crowds at every baseball game know what I’m talking about….it was an event, and the team was something to be proud of….
Hell, you don’t have to “care” about baseball to put some effort into being decent. The Big 12 can be a great showcase for a baseball program, and thus reflect positively on the university. The program now seems directionless. I firmly believe that with a modest amount of emphasis the baseball program could be turned around, but someone has to make the decision to put forth the effort.
If that someone is currently with the AD, then we have some house-cleaning to do.
Not caring about programs is a certain recipe for ending up in the AAC again.
Crowds like that mean money.
Time to move on and get better or fold the tents and shut it down. AD will do what’s right!
We had some legendary crowds when LSU, UT, etc. came to town and the games were outstanding.
There was definitely some money being made.
This isn’t anything like 2013
Not arguing with you. But I think the best way to build this program back up is to first, make the right hire, and then build with freshmen and spot pulls from the portal.
The caveat is that it has to be a handful of bad a$$ freshman….High level D-1 kids.
You only need to hit on a 3-4 a year….
Get a few top portal guys……and then have some solid guys that can be developed and become productive.
Most really good portal kids don’t split……baseball is not as bad as basketball.
There are only so many spots on P4 starting lineups……if they have one at a P4 school unless they are a freshman All-American why even look?
Most of the portaling in baseball is guys looking for more playing time.
Or guys from smaller schools wanting to move up.
I think we are saying the same thing. I am saying for long-term consistent success you still have to build from the freshmen class and not just trying to find a new team in the portal every year.
