You're Jim Crane, the off-season is here...go!

Lots more in tweet.

I was under the impression that JVs salary was being paid by the Mets. Does it still count towards the luxury tax tho?

Yes, still counts towards the tax.

I hope they don’t overthink this too much…Espada should be the pick.

He has interviewed for managerial jobs in the last 2 off seasons but was never offered. Why is that? Are we over estimating his potential as a manager?

This message is confusing. If Brown has to “push” for Espada, then that means that Crane isn’t letting him do his job and has his sights on someone else. If that’s based on interviews and some objective differences of opinion, then that’s one thing. If it’s because of other influences in the organization, then that’s a problem, imo.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it.

When I first read it I didn’t think anything of it….but now after you said that….

Apparently, Espada isn’t Crane’s first choice; otherwise, the decision would have been made by now.

Councel is a Cub, everyone else with experience is a retread.

Ausmus? He hasn’t coached in 4 years. Losing record.

AJ Hinch? Wishful thinking. Crane would have to muster up a level of forgiveness that he isn’t accustomed at present.

Cut to the chase. Sign Espada.

I kind of wonder if Crane has his eye on Banister or another former candidate.

Bannister is the only guy I would want other than Espada….I would say 1 and 1a for me.

What happened with him at the rangers? Did he get fired?

He made the playoffs his first two years and then the next two were losing seasons.

There were a ton of injuries that played a huge part because the Rangers had no depth….IMO he should not have been fired .

David Ross is now available, he is another guy I’d take over Ausmus or the other retreads.

Has he really done anything?

Without looking I don’t remember him being that great….I know there was a lot of hype and supposed to be a “players manager” etc.

But yeah, I’d take him over Ausmus….but that’s not saying much….I’d take Funk over Ausmus.

Has a great reputation and isn’t closed minded like Ausmus, Bagwell and company. I just don’t think the Cubs made a concerted effort to win while he was there.

Fair enough.

A GM that is openly arguing that his team does NOT use analytics as a driver of decisions.

What a putz……how on earth does this guy still have a job.
