You're Jim Crane, the off-season is here...go!

Here’s my player personnel take:

  1. Kick the tires on Gray or Snell as another SP. If the money is right, then move Garcia and Urquidy for a couple minor leaguers and bullpen arm

  2. Fish offers for Tucker to replenish the farm system. Sign Hunter Renfroe. Couple his WAR with Yainer’s potential and you’ve replaced Tucker and gained assets.

  3. MY OUT OF LEFT FIELD IDEA! DO NOT TAKE IT TOO SERIOUS!! - Trade Jeremy Pena and for Javier Baez and make Detroit eat $35mm of his remaining salary.

Pretty confident the Astros are going to sign another pitcher or two.

Sign Lourdes Gurriel instead of Renfroe. Maybe sign Yuli for one year. The competition with his brother might light a spark in Yuli’s game. Both will make for fan favorites. Good publicity.

I’m on the fence with Tucker. If we trade him, it better generate a HAUL.

Peña for Baez? No thank you. Not sure how that makes sense.

Enjoy your creativity.

Former Rangers mgr Ron Washington mentioned today.
Braves 3d base coach. Odd.

Baez was really good before he signed with Detroit. He needs a change of scenery. I think going to a contender would be good for him.

Perhaps, but not for Peña.

We still don’t know Peña’s ceiling.

No thanks ……ugh.

Keep Peña. He has too much upside to trade at this stage of his career. It’s possible he could develop into a superstar, or not, but the Astros owe it to themselves and the fans to find out.

The Astros have a history of giving up on prospects only to have them develop into highly productive players for other teams.

And tries to put himself in to pinch hit.

Yes sir.

Way too soon to give up on Pena….he makes plays defensively that only a handful of guys are even capable of pulling off.

Even if his hit tool is just average I would take it….heck he would be a pretty good 9 hitter next year.

His power outage this year seems fluky. Even without the homers, if his second half is who he is, you keep him.

It was weird to go 3 months without a homer in this era where everyone swings for the fences all the time. I am wondering did he have some sort of hand injury that affected his power.

If all Peña does going forward is to hit singles, doubles, drive in runs, plays good D and utilizes his speed, I’m pleased.

The Astros don’t need him to hit HRs, but it would be an added bonus.

Pena’s biggest issue is he is trying to be cool at the plate with the bat wave. If he got locked and loaded he would hit for power.

This is definitely not his issue
