1 month to 6 months,
if he has a legitimate reason and kansas is not objecting and in full support itll be shorter…the longer it takes the less likely it is (as it likely means it is being debated by the ncaa staff or is being investigated and not clear cut)
some players that committed in may, already have gotten their approval in june…
the high profile one from the aac last year was teddy allen at wichita …he applied in may, didnt receive notice till the end of November (7 games into the season), and it was ultimately denied
edit: also noting i have no clue what his reason for the waiver is …but if its the kansas rumored sanctions, we might have to wait longer as the ncaa hasnt even handed those out yet
Some of it may have something to do with the previous school delaying the process by not being diligent or or waiting until the last moment to send in required documentation.
I think for the remainder of CKS tenure, this could be true at UH. Grimes could of gone to UK or other outer state school, but he chose UH. Combined that with winning, facilities & fan support in campus… Getting Mark, Shead and now Grimes is quite the movement-n-statement.
the ideal decision date would be anytime before October 9th …thatll be when all the official media preseason stuff comes out (conference and national)
and that could give us a gonzaga effect (if you are perceived to be really good in the preseason they might give you a higher seed than the number says, that might be getting docked by SOS)
the dream decision date would be anything before august 8- we’d be going into our foreign trip knowing exactly who is going to be playing next season
One more thing, and it matters. Character matters. In the past few days two business associates brought this up. Neither are Cougars, but they know I am. Both kept bringing up what a fine young man he is. Both have sons that were class mates of Quentin. Both he was good kid visiting their home and someone they were comfortable with their son being around. That’s junior thru high school. A talented player that isn’t stuck up is a great thing. Both will come watch him play at Houston.
From what I’ve read, Kansas fans put a ton of pressure on him to be a superstar from the get-go. When he didn’t live up to that label, a lot of them came down hard on him and the finger was pointed at him for their less than successful season. Wasn’t fair to do that to an 18-19 year old who maybe wasn’t quite ready for that kind of expectations. Problem is, it was Kansas…those folks don’t have much else in their lives.
