16 Team Playoff with 10 Auto-bids

Really? The reason why March Madness is so popular and…MAD is for thus exact same reason.
Sports upsets happen every single season. Why on earth should the cfp STOP this possibility?
Every which way you look at it this is not about sports. It is about money.
Getting the cfp to 16 Schools will re-energize the sport like never before. It is as abvious as can be. The very few on this site are covering for their real team.

You realize basketball can accommodate this because of the quicker recovery time for players after a basketball games, right?

A quick way to prove your point is to show the tv ratings for 16 vs 1 seed games vs top 5 seeds against each other.

If the 16 vs 1 has better ratings then you’ve proven your point. Let us know because I’m interested in the ratings.

I do not have a lot of time to research data on your questions.
So before the Peach Bowl we were ranked #14 and we played against a #9 ranked Team.
How were our ratings?
Regarding the recovery time. When did Clemson and LSU last played their last regular season game?

Not meaning to quibble , but 1 in 140 is
approximately 0.7%.

Chris, I think everyone on this forum and in the G5 world would love for the CFP to go to 16 teams but we know that is not going to happen anytime soon.

It’s going to be hard enough convincing those who run it to increase it to 8 with a autobid for G5.

I like your consistent positive outlook on 16 teams but realistically, it’s not happening.

Good catch.

Bingo. Prior to the P5/G5, the talent gaps were program based.

And cheating based.

What’s the difference today? Oh, they figured out how to use the bag men.

For the sweet 16 and on, the traditional powers have always gotten better tv ratings. When Butler-VCU played it was a huge drop, George Mason also struggled with ratings.

A ranking is different than a seeding. Your 16 seed in a playoff very well may not even be ranked. And I bet that the TV viewership would not be any good

What right(s) does the cfp has to arbitrarily exclude g5’s?
None whatsoever. The FBS Div I exist for one reason. This is why this is not a National Football Championship.

It has the right granted to it by members of the cfp, of which g5 are

The NCAA turned over control of college football to the CFP. The CFP website claims that no FBS team is excluded:

Universal Access
No team qualifies automatically, so every Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team has equal access to the CFP based on its performance during the season.

Why do you keep bringing this up? You realize that a playoff won’t have more than 1 week between rounds, right? You expect 18 year olds to play an extra 4-5 games on top of the regular season and conference championship? That’s crazy.

This is already done at every other level below D1, stop saying this. D2 and D3 playoffs are 5 weeks.

Please do not tell us that you actually believe it. I have a sense of humor but this is not it.

Exactly 7thear. norbert a “real” cfp can be adjusted and fitted appropriately. A cfp with four Schools picked behind close doors is by definition a flawed and more importantly a rigged system. You want a rigged cfp? That is your choice norbert, not mine and many feel the same way.

How are the TV ratings for those playoff games in D2 and D3? Since that’s all that matters to 92010. Having just 2 teams or 4 teams makes it a special event, like the Super Bowl. Why dilute it? The whole season is already a tournament.
