I agree that the Cincy game has little to gain and much to lose. It is a road game, so a win won’t be (I hope) like the pre Big 12 days when our bad wins lost ground to "power " teams “good losses.”
I have been a little surprised at how our schedule has kept our RPI and ranking elevated in the face of 6 losses (twice as many as last year in the regular season).
Important match underway. UCF running #2 in Conference - so wins are huge for the stretch run for December.
Coogs win set one in dominating fashion.
After 25-15 set 1 - Coogs and UCF play an epic set point in set 2- but Coogs prevail 25-23 - now up 2-0 in sets.
Coogs win set 3 - 25-19.
Another big match against the Mouseketeers - tomorrow at 3 pm FC.
I was really impressed by the Coog’s passing in this match. Time after time they received serves and got the ball to the setters within 2’-3’ of the net. UCF hardly stood a chance most of the time.
Makes we wish my wife and I had a daughter in addition to our son. Would had loved to have had a daughter to play volleyball for U of H. The ladies are making us proud.
As I watched I remarked to myself that each set the Coogs would go on an extended run- 5-7 points or so and look utterly dominating in doing so. I suspect your observation is an explanation for that level of play I am hopeful that the team is improving as tourney time approaches.
Stretch run begins today! Selection Sunday is November 26th Coogs have 6 contests remaining. All in conference - 3 each home and away. My guess is that at this point the Coogs are “in” the field - but it can change easily.
After at Okie for two (game today and tomorrow both at 6 pm)- Coogs play 4 single games against teams that should be competitive - TCU - Iowa State - Baylor and finish at home on Saturday the 25th against - Kansas State (who just beat UT in a 3 set sweep).) Of those four only Baylor is away.
Seems to me every game is big. Go Coogs.
I saw on the volleyball page of uhcougars.com that the team signed two new players: a Lilly Barron and an Addisyn Pohl. I don’t know enough other than to say the writeup made reference to what seemed to me to be some impressive accomplishments.
Good on Okie for scoring 22 points. Still, Coogs prevail: 25 -22. Coogs lead 2 - 0 in sets.
All things considered, I daresay Oklahoma would rather be in the SEC. Coogs win set 3: 25 - 13. 7 consecutive Big 12 wins. 5 consecutive Big 12 wins on the road.
Next match: Wednesday the 15th vs. TCU at Fertitta Center, 7 pm.
