Still curious to see our final ranking,
Arizona lost when they went for 2 on the first TD. Pushed too hard to try to get it to only 3 TDs plus 2pt conversions. Three consecutive 2pt conversions would have been really hard.
Kick the extra point on the first two TDs and a FG on that 4th and 6 in between, it would have been 24-24.
If you said the first 2 years were just as good, I’d have to agree with you. But including this year is where it blows the whole argument out of the water.
This year is where we deviated ourselves from the other 2 G5’s, a 10 win season in a power conference, winning against multiple ranked teams, is comparable to our runs in the SWC. Our history is wider, and deeper, you have the Cotton Bowls of the 70’s, and 80’s, giving UH multiple 10+ win seasons (4 btw, 1 IND/3 SWC) in a time where the average season only lasted 10 games with a whole offensive system deemed “The Veer” created by Bill Yeomen himself. The Heisman and QB’s of the late 80’s/early 90’s, breaking multiple NCAA records, Klinger threw for 11 touchdowns in a single game for God sake.
Here comes the late 2000’s - early 2010’s with Case Keenum breaking even more passing and offensive records, being added to the Cougar Mount Rushmore of prolific QB’s, and handing us 2 of our ever growing 10+ win seasons. Then there’s the 2015 year with “thou who shan’t be named” brining UH back to a NY6 bowl, absolutely dominating our little brother Florida State (13-2 btw). Red Bull’s 12 win season with current NFL QB Clayton Tune. Then finally this season, 3rd year back in the big leagues… 10-3, handing the Cajun cubs a lose in a packed stadium, and we’re just getting started. In Willie We Trust.
While I commend Cincy and UCF on their recent accomplishments, and helping us (with BYU) save and elevate the Big 12, their history doesn’t come close to what UH has done, and has the potential to do. We’re building back to the juggernaut of the 70’s and Heisman years, and it looks like the legislature can’t touch us this time.
From Jewell Wallace to Willie Fritz we got something to be proud of.

if kiffin had any heart, he’d give that 500k back to ole miss for all the hoops it is now jumping thru for him while trying to make a playoff run, he’s worth 14 mil now with an incoming lsu contract; he doesn’t need it; but i have no doubt he’ll keep it and continue his dirtbag status.

Kiffin earned the bonus. He transformed the Ole Miss program into a national power and got them to the quarterfinals of the NC.
Money well spent given the current state of affairs with collegiate football.
He’s won everywhere he’s coached except for a two year stint with the Oakland Raiders when he was 31 years old.
