2025 Offers

According to my source, Koa to UH is officially dead.

Why

I mean you could turn it down if you were guaranteed similar earnings through an NIL deal but if you’re already showing up as a late first rounder, you’re not going to up your stock much more than that in college. You would be much better off just going into the league and focusing on your craft full time. Plus that extra year you spend in the NBA gets you through your rookie deal faster which could net a player several million dollars down the road. It would be negligent of any coach not to encourage a kid to go out if they’re receiving a first round projection imo. The math is different if the player is getting a 2nd round projection but if its early enough, I’d still lean towards declaring.

Maybe it’s as simple as if JoJo is projected to get more money in the NBA than NIL, he goes to the NBA. Money is a persuasive thing.

He posted something on his IG. A note from his uncle essentially telling him to keep his head up because some recruiters weren’t recognizing his talent. I assumed it was directed at UH since he was close to signing with us until Cenac became the priority. Maybe @Joprior23 has more info, but we may have burned the bridge with Koa.

I have moved on from Koa for the time being. I’m more focused on football portal. Koa will still be around after the portal window is over. Lol

You said “jojo isnt getting drafted anytime soon”.

I rest my case.

A 19-yr kid with a 76 in. wingspan and non-stop motor who performs defensive switch-ability to guard multiple positions is a DESIRE for NBA rosters. His offensive game can continue to grow, but the defensive acumen ALONE will get him drafted.

I don’t need to be a scout to understand the game to know what NBA scouts are looking for. Same reason Hunter Dickinson has been in college for 8 years
without a SNIFF of NBA interest. But them NCAA double-doubles of his are SWEET.

Again
you showed that you don’t know about the draft
with all due respect. (Peyton Watson says HELLO
again)

Nate

It’s a win win for Houston. If Tugler continues to develop his game these next few months then Houston is going to have a big year and it likely ends with Tugler being drafted into the NBA. If he doesn’t quite get there then he’s going to be a monster for us next year.

But Houston struggled in Las Vegas last week and in part because of Tugler’s inconsistency. In our two losses, Tugler had what 2 points against Bama and another 2 points against SDSU? Only 6 points in our win against Notre Dame So 10 points the entire tournament? That’s not a collection of performances that scream NBA ready.

Like I said, it’s a win win. Everyone know what he’s capable of doing and we’re all looking forward to him putting it all together and doing so more consistently. I hope he becomes a force this season, leads us to a title and gets drafted at the end.

Great problems to have! :raised_hands:t3::raised_hands:t3::raised_hands:t3:

Cenac’s game

Ssssss NAck! Love how they say his name!

ESPN did some rankings updates, and Kingston is officially a 5 star in their rankings now as well. Interesting quote from Kellen in an ESPN+ article about it.

I hate to say I told you so

Let’s GOOOOOO!!!

There’s no way we’ll be a mess on offense next year, right?

Why would you?

Most everyone has always believed Kingston would be the starting pg.

There are always those that claim coach would never start a freshman. Or a fresh would never leap a current. Or coach would never tell a player they will be a starter. Etc

Funny Sampson on the post game last night talks about frosh coming in behind talented experienced players. Mentioned Shead coming in as a frosh and not seeing the floor. Point blank said Mercy is in that situation this year getting the minutes that Shead got his frosh year.

That is true.

Shead also wasn’t a 5 star top 15 kid.

the bigger story here is that we are expecting milos to go pro after the season or that quote was meant as a long term thing

big sampson also said mcfarland will be a starter for us in his commitment video, but it was insinuated as a “at some point”
curious the interpretation kellen meant

from sampson post game yesterday milos will be our starting pg till he leaves

Next year is going to be interesting. Sampson going from wanting experience to having:
Flemings
Mercy
Harwell
Cenac
Maybe Koa

Do Sharpe, Uzan and maybe Jo Jo ( if he stays another year) just move aside even if we make a deep run?

Sampson has been positive about McFarland but does he leave. I can’t see why a Jefferson would stay. Lath is interesting. Does he move down or is he our new Ramon.

If we have a few transfer out what transfers would come here knowing all these 5 stars are starting. Yes Flemings could just be so good he forces himself to start. But IF Ssmpson just is giving it to him then Milos is gone and we again have no backup PG .

Next year will be very interesting to see our 15 man roster.
