There are just so many spots in the NBA. 30 guaranteed contracts of first round. Another 30 in second round. We know there will be plenty of Euros, etc drafted. There are hundreds of colleges. How isUH having all these players taken? Doesn’t Duke, Bsma, Auburn, and many other teams have any players. And now with NIL these players make more staying in college then being g league guys.
Again going to be interesting after this season. ,
I think the quote was meant as long term idea. I don’t see either of the Sampson men just handing a job to someone or promised a position b4 the player steps on the court. Not everything either says should be taken as Definite.
If we make a deep run these three will be instrumental and yes I think starting. However, I don’t really feel the need to try to prove my position to these posters. I trust the staff to make the decisions best for the team. Good problems to have.
This year has just started and it has lot of promise and a NC to win. That will have an impact of what next year roster will be. But imo this is what I think we will see -
Cenac
Tugler
Arceneaux
Sharpe
Milo’s
Backed up
Harrel
Flemmings
Mercy
Chase
McFarland or Peat.
Coach is going to let those who earn it start, in the event where those competing are neck-in-neck he’ll go with the more experienced player. I’d guess he’ll be putting the most emphasis on how well they are defending within the system and that can take a while for the freshmen. However, if the offense is abysmal, he has shown a willingness to put a scorer in who’s questionable on defense. (Gray and Mills come to mind)
Lath might be in one of the safest positions on the roster, if all our other bigs are skinny, because occasionally we might need some beef down low.
If they buy into our culture, who starts should not matter. CKS has been clear that he will keep the team that will help him win. As Arceneaux gets healthier, I do see him playing 20-25 minutes every game and there could be many games that he will close and if we get to the promised land, I expect him to declare and get drafted.
Sooo agree, that much will depend on the recovery, development and the progress of TA. We have very little of an offensive threat in the front court otherwise. Now in the Big 12, Sampson may have to change his theory as to what he wants in a front court player. I think Jacob’s loss was a blow, but we already see a change in the commitment of Cenac and in the recruitment of Peat. It is Tx–go big or go home.
