Just thinking how different UHās team will look next year compared to this year. You lose Cryer, Roberts, Francis, Walker, and Wilson due to eligibility, and Arceneaux and Tugler, who may declare for the draft. That is a lot of talent and experience.
I think the challenge next year for the coaching staff is what fuels their fire. Almost a blank canvas to shape the team.
ive said it before that i dont necessarily agree with 1 and 2. Peat will likley commit before 1 is finalized. he probably just needs to believe its a strong possibility. #2 ive noted that sampson will play the best 5 regardless, that is probably what sampson is telling peat
i think #3 is half true, i think he not only wants to start, he likely expects it, from the interview he just did, the teams still recruting him are basically offering him the world in the basketball contextā¦ie texas is saying theyll center their entire offense around him like tre johnson is this year ⦠but i dont think it has to be the perimeter⦠he has noted he doesnt care the position as he is given the green light to be on the perimeter and post up (he is fine being a stretch 4 or 5)
Can Peat play the 3, yes⦠arizona is actually recruiting him to play the 3 ⦠if you accept that he is not a great 3pt shooter which alot of wings arent, he can do everything else⦠he shoots but that is not a strength ā¦
for us specifically, it could work if milos was the pg, and he level up in the offseason⦠if milos goes pro, and flemings is the pg, imo no way it works⦠there just wouldnt be enough shooting
Keep in mind a lot of the old heads from Covid will finally be out of eligibility. I think weāll be back to normal as far as that goes with less experience/age on rosters.
I think this year is a final four level team and good enough to win the entire thingā¦ā¦but damn, itās hard not to think about how much fun next yearās team will be to watch.
I think this years team has more talent and ability than our recent final four team. It remains to be seen if the ball bounces enough our way and if we stay healthy enough to get that far.
Understand. Just not how I ever do it.
yea, I canāt wait till Coog fan yells on this forum why isnāt so n so playing more⦠⦠just rotting away on the bench, then 1 good game, ohh is he one & done.
So I live for the moment⦠Today.
Out of eligibilty/end of an era
Roberts
Cryer
Walker
Wilson
Francis
Transfer/ala Tramon Mark
Arceneaux - I think he may transfer to a more offensive oriented team while getting a big bag on the open nil market. Plus with his injury history maybe the wear and tear of CKS practices may play a factor along with a guaranteed starting job where he can put gaudy numbers.
Test the NBA Draft Process
Tugler - may want to be a potential top 20 pick '26 draft and polish up his offense/particularly his jump shot. He is a young true sophomore and heāll get to start from the jump next season at UH. Nil will be nice iām guessing if he returns.
Uzan - he is finally putting it all together in January and itās a beautiful sight to see. His shooting splits and assist numbers are solid. He probably wonāt get drafted in a deep draft this year. But he has to test the process because heās already a junior and he would love to hear the feedback from NBA personnel. Plus heās not even averaging double figures for the season so iāll think heāll be back unless UH cuts the nets. Then it becomes hard not to go out on top.
Mercy Miller, Chase McCarthy & Jacob McFarland have a future at UH.
Emmanuel Sharp 50/50 he test the NBA process. He would become our go to guy next season if he chooses not to turn pro. Pro can mean overseas as well. Hopefully Nil discourages that.
Others I didnāt name are probably not rotation players with the young quartet coming in and possibly adding any transfers.
Best case scenario is JoJo returning for another year and pairing him with Cenac on the front court. McFarland plays backup with Lath getting some minutes if he continues to improve.
Worst case is JoJo declaring, leaving us with just McFarland and Lath to pair with Cenac.
Perhaps we sign Peat if JoJo declares for the draft but regardless, I think it makes sense for Sampson to bring in another big with experience that can rebound and play D, especially given McFarlandās leg injury and lack of experience on the court.
