His best work was his nonfiction especially regarding Texana in my HO. In a Narrow Grave
Rice is absolutely atrocious⦠they looked like the bad news owls against the Coogs.
They look like a bunch of NERDS out there trying to play ballā¦
Better luck next year poindexter!!!
Yeah, Walter Benjamin at the Dairy Queen is amazing, too.
I understand what you are saying. You are saying that they are not going to light the world on fire but show some improvement. I just donāt think this coaching staff can develop the players enough during the season to make even a small improvement. They do have some draftable players but I donāt think k they will produce in the Big 12.
Weāre in one of (if not the) best markets for high school talent in the country. Kids wanted to come here previously. Great history, played against good teams, continually made the NCAA Tournament, numerous players being drafted etc etc. Now the program has sunk so low UH isnāt even on these kids radar. Throw in weāre now in the Big12 which should help with recruiting but things have got worse each yr and as itās been pointed out TW shouldāve been shown the door a few yrs ago.
Like Iāve said numerous times on here, if the Admin doesnāt care about the program why should I. This program had WAY higher aspirations then just being competitive. I think about games against Rice, LSU, A&M (and numerous others) where the atmosphere was electric, fans chanting āHOUSTONā¦HOUSTONā¦HOUSTONā, at the beginning of the game where they would crank up AC/DC āThunderstruckā as the team ran on to the field and the opposing team knew they were going up against a bad a** team that day. All INCREDIBLE memories and the sad thing is things could be resurrected with the right coach.
Weāll obviously see how it plays out, but the B12 may be a little easier to navigate this year. I can see us picking up a few more wins than last year.
Patience, Hughey is gone , I expect the same for Whitting AFTER the season, Nunez is cleaning house
Hoffman on Sunday ?
B12 starting w TT after this.
Gambling RPI 279.
Sam is 3-9. @ Okie x 3 then
@ Baylor night before UH.
Your post prompted me to look at Riceās BB history. They have had 21 head coaches since 1913 and Graham is the only one with a winning record. Two names jumped out at meā¦
Dickie Kerr who won two games for the Black Sox in the 1919 World Series, and Jack Coombs who pitched for three World Champion teams (Philadelphia Aās and Brooklyn) in the early 20th Century.
It might be heresy to say this, but Iād like to see both us and Rice with good programs. A crosstown rivalry between top-notch clubs would be fun and maybe spark interest among area prospects.
EDITED for spelling LOL ![]()
Agree so long as itās us beating them the great majority of the time.
Damn, weāre pitching the mascot Sunday!
Thatās just disrespectful towards the Grambling team.

He has a dirty paw ball.
Clearly its just a placeholder. Do you even know baseball? ![]()

And a nasty Uncle Shastaā¦
Interestingly enough, after finishing his tenure as Riceās head baseball coach (he was actually a UH grad who played on one of UHās MVC champion teams), Doug Osburn went on to be an assistant football and baseball coach at my high school.
Of course, like Riceās other coaches besides Graham, he had a losing record at Rice.
I totally agree. Thatās the way it was from the late 1990ās through the mid 2000ās and it helped both teams RPIās.
While Rice is down, we have to beat them a bunch to catch up as they lead overall since we have been playing them.
