I think they think that they get more value out of Jean when he is in the bullpen. He seems to be a guy that bounces back pretty quickly, so he can pitch meaningful innings two times over the weekend. The problem with that is we are not getting quality starts.

That has nothing to do with anything and Oklahoma did not lose to Winthrop. Their one loss is to DBU, which is a good loss.

Whitting can control the non-conference schedule, and we aren’t on a roller coaster, we’ve been stuck in I-45 rush hour traffic for the past few years.

We don’t need to worry about the non conference sched. We need to worry about the Big 12. Talk about bad schedules, look at nationally ranked SEC power Arkansas non conference sched. They might as well be playing local high schools.

They make their own schedule. It is not like the NCAA does it for them.

UH is nothing like Arkansas and the Big 12 is nothing like the SEC. Those guys are on a different level. However, I think they all should play one decent NC series.

A tough non-conference schedule can mean the difference between being a top 8 seed, hosting a super-regional, hosting a regional, getting an at-large bid, or just watching it all on TV.

Just took a look at how our non-conference weekend opponents are doing.

Minnesota - 5-7
Cal - 7-7
UT-Arlington - 4-7
Grambling 4-9

Somehow worse than I thought they’d be. Actually surprised Grambling has four wins. I didn’t check but team ERA had to be above 5 going into this stat padding series (4.72 now).

Too bad we didn’t get to play against UT and Oregon State, but why dwell on something you can’t control. Just let the season play out.
