Did you see who Grambling beat?

Hard to believe there are worse teams.

I understand scheduling a mid-week SWAC game…but come on, a 3-game weekend series…COMPLETE WASTE of time…iron sharpens iron

Go Coogs !

Do we have iron to sharpen?

Would have been good to find out.

Looks like we will begin to learn quite a bit soon. B12 starts this coming weekend with TTech (in Houston) followed by what appears to be a good UCF team (11-3) including a win over # 6 Florida. UCF hosts starting on March 21.

I would be interested to see how Tech RPI compares with UH. Tech is 3 - 10, but has played a true ā€œbig leagueā€ schedule.

If we don’t win the Tech series, that will be a pretty good indicator that we’ll be in the bottom quartile of the conference.

Granted, one series won’t determine the season, and I don’t have a good feel for how much weaker the conference will be this year. Tech would have been battling to be top half in last year’s B12 - might be a little better than that with this year’s schedule.

Tech doesn’t have the pitching they used to pull in, so I would expect us to put up some runs.

OK, so Roman is starting today.

Grambling’s C just had TWO passed balls in the SAME INNING, resulting in a run.

That’s some BAD catching!

Ten run inning. Grambling miraculously got out of it when we hit a line drive right into one of our runners with the bases loaded.

11-0 Coogs, End of 2nd.

First I’ve watched live this weekend.
They are dreadful.

SWAC 15th in RPI of 16.
7 of 12 teams w 10 + losses already
8 of 12 when Grambling loses 10th today.

ADD 6 games w struggling SAM & Rice:
SAM maybe 3-13 when they play UH Weds.

SAM w a double header @ OK today.
Down 2 to 6 B 6th in the 1st game.
Then @ Baylor night before vs UH.

Rice in Bad News Owls territory.
They could be all time bad.

I think SAM can rally in CUSA play.
Good UH finishes Don Sanders on Mar 18th.

Glad he shook it off.
A frozen rope.

UH started day at #90 RPI while Tech is #95 with only 3 wins.

The other issue is all these dreadful teams UH has played, well their RPI’s and records will continue to get worse as season progresses……which means UH will be indirectly have that working against them all season.

There are MANY D-3 schools that are WAY better than Grambling……

I could list 6-7 off the top of my head that would easily sweep Grambling.

I’m liking UH to go .500 + in B12.
Way ahead of teams snow blowing the diamond right now.

With all the tomato cans:
Going .600 + in B12 only thing gets them in NCAAs.

2 months of Big12 weekend baseball starts next week.
Been grinding Big12 hoop w a few random baseball games.

10-12 hours of Big12 baseball sounds good me.
(regardless of UH success or failure)

Got a question.

In college baseball, does a starter still have to go 5 innings to qualify for a win?

i think Warren Nolan has us predicted to win a total of four conference games.

I can see why.

OK, with today’s predictable blowout (13-4) win, we wrap up a completely LOPSIDED series.

I’m pretty sure we’ll beat Sam this week, and then…

THE REAL CHALLENGE BEGINS WITH TECH!!!

As for my earlier question, I guess the answer is no. Starters have to go minimum five for a win, just like MLB.

I am guessing we’ll win more than four conference games. If we can win 8-10, will that at least get us in the conference tourney?

Thanks for the information. Surprises me that UH has a ā€œbetterā€ RPI, (although probably is a strong statement about our early schedule that we are basically tied with a 3-10 team)but I guess it is still early.

After the win the RPI now stands at # 99.

Yes, the SP must go 5 IP as long as the game goes atleast 8 innings.

Roger that! Thanks!

Last season lowest B12 RPI to make tourney:
KSU at 37th. (15-15 in Big12)
UCF made it at 14-15 in Big12 w 30th RPI.

Guessing UH needs @ 20 Big 12 wins.

Only UH loss so far that should RPI age well.
UTRGV still #1 in RPI. 6th SOS.
Left this season.
@ S Miss (22nd)
@ TCU x 2.
@ Texas #9
@ Rice
@ TT x2
@ Baylor

Top of Southland is decent.
UTRGV, Htown Chrsitian. SE LA.

Rice (2-13) just swept at home by Yale.
Rice next week has Houston Christian x 4. (@Rice, @ Htown Christian x2, @ Rice)
They need some wins.

This 1 ?

Like the David Pierce idea.
