Just incase you have any interest, Baylor vs OSU is fixing to start on ESPN+
The players seem to really rally around him, and they like his work ethic. Woody must have seen something in him that led him to believe he could make the transition in the off season.
Cincinatti is the better team. TTās pitching was beyond atrocious this year and we couldnāt beat them one time at home.
That makes complete sense and it is not very surprising, either.
It was mentioned that TCU has a few stud freshmen. What allows them to recruit so well?
Maybe its because the program has been to the CWS six times in the last 14 seasons and plenty of fine looking undergrad females. Do the math.
Their facilities are top notch and they really support the baseball program. It is their second best sport and they treat it that way. They also have some NIL money. Probably the most in the Big 12.
Speaking of TCU, they interviewed head coach Kirk Saarloos a few times, he looks like a different human than the one that pitched for the Astros

Over/Under CTW is back ??? I am at 75% heās coming back for another year of excitement
Historically if you look back Noble was let go on June 4th and the Whitting deal was finalized on July 2nd. That was back when the portal wasnāt really a big deal and rosters didnt jump around so much. You had your drafted guys and seniors leaving and the signing class coming in to replace them.
Its much different now as most schools have to rebuild a good portion of the rosterā¦like right now. So if a move is happening, I would have thought it would have been done last Friday or today.
If the UTSA coach is the real target, they still have a regional to play so that interview probably cant happen for at least another week. Or if its Shawn Allen, he still has a regional to coach.
With all that being said, Iām still not convinced a move is made. Pollard and I agree on a lot but probably not here. If they run it back, iāll support it. Get a third year in the Big 12 and see if we can be one of the 8 teams next year for a regional.
Even if he stays and makes it to the tournament next year, what does that accomplish? One semi-successful year out of 6 is not a good percentage of success. And we lose the only pitcher that had any success this year. It would be an absolutely pathetic move by the AD. Also, if we want to hire the UTSA coach, you donāt have to wait for his season to end to fire TW. They should have done it already or tomorrow at the latest!
These things are out of my control. Either way, Iāll support the team and not lose any sleep over it. If thereās a new coach, I just hope we donāt have another Rice where the new hire set the program back another 5 years. It can certainly happen.
If there is a change, the AD needs to nail this hire.
I tried to tell everyone here that at UH, you have to have an extended period of extreme suckitude in order to get fired as the head coach in a non-revenue sport.
The previous three non-revenue sport head coaches to get fired all had far suckier records than Whitting.
That seems to be what it takes.
Perhaps Whitting could still be fired, and if so, then great.
But I already told everyone here: DONāT count on it, based on that.
Since 1995, the program has had two different coachesā¦two, while the football program has had 11 head coaches in the same time period.
Things in college baseball just move much slower. With that being said, its fairly rare for a D1 job in Texas to be on the market, so I would expect with now being in the Big 12, its a highly sought after position.
I agree. And if there is one thing that Whitting AT LEAST does, itās beat Rice. If the new coach comes in and sets the program back five years AND doesnāt even beat Rice, that would suck.
Todd Whittingās overall record is
474-363-1 in 15 seasons at UH.
Looks like he may be around another year to get to 500 Wins!
Go Coogs!
Our OOC SOS was 253 out of 307 and we only finished 5 games above .500.
They move slower at UH but they donāt move slower in the rest of the Power 4 schools. If you donāt go to the tournament for four years in a row at a Power four school, you will be fired.
