2025 UHCougarBB

Law, with all due respect Sir, according to NCAA figures I found in quick search it’s showing Baseball as 4th highest revenue producing NCAA Sport. Change the snoozefest direction of the Baseball Program and get it back to packed park and a fun atmosphere and it’ll produce again. Add in the P4 $$ and there is ZERO excuses for UH Baseball being an anchor on the AD Department IMO.

How Much Money Does The Ncaa Make From Baseball

NCAA Revenue Generating:

Football, Men’s Basketball, ???, Baseball.

What’s third?

That may be. I believe @T-Moar already posted something to that effect, so welcome to the party. Men’s Ice Hockey is supposedly #3, and I’m sure you won’t try to make the case that it’s a big money maker.

Being #3 and #4 isn’t saying much given just how FAR BEHIND football and men’s basketball ice hockey and baseball both are. Neither sport is a money maker at most schools.

Even about 3/4 of the SEC schools lose money on baseball, as @T-Moar has already pointed out.

UVa, a school with recent CWS appearances and that averages over 4K per game in a Top 2 conference has been losing money hand over foot on baseball, as I already posted.

It is what it is.

Baseball is simply NOT a revenue sport or a money maker at most D1 schools, including UH. Being #4 in revenue doesn’t mean much…if you still aren’t making a profit, and are so far behind football and men’s basketball that you can’t even see them off in the distance.

And at UH…getting fired in such a non-revenue sport takes a WHOLE LOT OF SUCKIN’…as we have recently seen. It may indeed take more suckin’ than Whitting has recently shown. As I said, don’t count on him being fired. I’ll rejoice if it happens, but don’t put money on it.

If it doesn’t happen this week, its not happening.

Probably true. And we’re already halfway through the week.

I’m starting to accept that nothing is going to happen. Nobody, aside from this thread, is even talking about it. A quick twitter search for Todd Whitting. There is a total of 3 tweets in the last 6 days referencing Todd.

That is it.
GoCoogs, nothing.
Duarte, nothing.
Baldwin, nothing.

The aggie AD made as statement yesterday that he would be meeting with Coach Earley today. And that no decision has been made but they communicate to the fan base that it will be addressed one way or the other immediately. The coach was in his first year and didn’t hit expectations.

Is this how the new AD operates. Just leaves everyone wondering? Maybe they aren’t ready for the Big 12 stage, or they just don’t care.

It could happen after regionals/world series theoretically?

It could, but there is no reason to.

If they wait for the regionals to end then they are bigger dumbasses than I thought they were. You should have already made the move. This is a joke and anyone who follows the Big 12 knows UH is a joke, too. Everyone knows the potential of the program, but they know TW will never be successful on a consistent level. Even if he miraculously makes the NCAA tournament next year, nothing will have changed.

If you have not, or just want to again, email Nunez. He obviously doesn’t think anyone cares about baseball. However, we do care about softball? What an effing joke!

I would take that over hearing nothing. At least his acknowledgement says that they care about the program and the fans. This would never happen at UH. Horrible communicators.

If we are waiting for a coach currently in a Regional, it’s going to be a rebuilding year anyways, but they should go ahead and announce Whitting isn’t returning.

If it’s a JUCO or other, it most likely would have been announced.

Does this require a board meeting or just the AD decision?

Something tells me I’ll be finding lawns to mow or volunteering to help elderly neighbors do yardwork during baseball next year.

Probably a meeting if there’s going to be a buyout.

If it’s a reassignment, then the AD can probably do that, but I suspect he needs board approval to hire someone, so…

This is the little school that could.weve done more with less than any other. You could see it in Harry Fouke’s eyes when I interviewed him for The Cougar. It was even in Rolan Walton’s eyes.
Yes $$$ has made the path more difficult, but the coaches have made this little school big. The baseball program hasn’t had that coach in quite awhile.

I sent a well thought out email to Nunez earlier tonight……I didn’t bash TW or anything. Just stated some facts and informed him what this program once was and that it could be again, especially now that we’re in the Big 12.

Hey let’s not make fun of our new AD, he’s very solid.

If he continues to allow the baseball program to languish, then he’s not “solid” enough. He’s not just the director of football and basketball.

From Duarte in today’s Chronicle fwiw,

UH’s Eddie Nunez has been quick to make changes in under-performing programs. What about baseball?
