Harwell will replace Sharp.
Tugler will be the only returning starter if Cenac and Flemings go Pro.
Quite a task to redo the roster for 26-27.
Miller, Harwell, and McCarty should start.
For some reason those guys donât excite me. We need a guy that can consistently drive the lane.
Mercy by next year should be capable of filling Milos Uzanâs spot at the 2 that Milos is operating out of this year. Milos hasnât had the best shooting year so far so Mercy could actually maybe even give you a small scoring boost at the 2. No other option but to replace Flemings when he gets drafted this year with a very good transfer portal PG. We will spend the money to get a star here. That solves 2 of the holes. Replacing most of Sharpâs production will be tough to do. Really need Harwell and McCarty to start shooting it better from 3 to show the staff they can be the guys next year.
I donât expect much additional offense out of Harwell next year unless he improves his shooting percentage, currently at 28% overall and 27% from three, to at least 40% overall and 35% from three. Itâs at the point now where I want to see more of his passing skills because his shooting is such a let down. Donât get me wrong, I love the guys hustle, defense and his willingness to put up a shot. He just needs to find the bottom of the net much more often and less crabking off the rim.
My way-too-early two deep, 9 man rotation
PG: Transfer / Alozie / Miller
SG: Holt* / Miller
SF: Harwell / McCarty
PF: Tugler / McFarland / McCarty
C: Diane / McFarland
*If Holt goes elsewhere, it could be Miller / Jackson
You only have one transfer and Kelvin has already said we will use the portal more than normal this year. 2 starters will be from the transfer portal I believe and think we will have at least 3 portal additions this spring.
For the average person yesâŠâŠbut I doubt that was a factorâŠ.his father has done REALLY well at managing and growing his money.
Landing Holt would be huge!
15 ppg, 6 rbs & 4 assists is very doable along with great defense!
maybe he doesnt just want to live off his dad tho
Heâs not 30 living on the couchâŠ.hes a senior in HS.
Paying for your son or daughterâs college does not mean âthey are living off you.â.
If the parent has the means they should ABSOLUTELY pay for their kids collegeâŠ.what kind of parent would want to have their kids start life in debt?
no question he would.
but as the student its nice to do things on your own
Doesnât sound like we are getting him, we broke remember lol
We had an E8 team with Carrolton, Edwards, and Moore all as transferred starters. I think we will be just fine with another year under our returning players too. The big question mark is where our offense will come from with what feels like 90% of our points leaving this year.
It comes down if Holt wants to come and be the guy here in Houston. The role is for the taking - just like it was for Kingston.
At this point I do not envision Miller as a point guard
I could see Mercy as a Corey Davis or Marcus Sasser type combo-guard. Or a scorer like Rob Gray. But not a traditional point guard, like Galen, Jamal, or Kingston. I wish he would have just dunked on Momcilivic the other night.
Miller is not a point guard, just as McCarty is not a PF. I have them listed 3rd in respective positions for situational use. For example, McCarty plays 4 in small ball or foul trouble situations. Miller is likely to be the most experienced returning guard next year and after two years should know the system. I can see him being the primary ball handler in 2-3 minutes situations as needed but not long stretches.
PG should be the top priority in the portal.
Cenac and especially Flemings are great recruiting chips in the Caleb Holt sweepstakes. If Holtâs plan is to play one year of college and then go to the NBA, he needs to look no further than Flemings and Cenac. Holt would have all the advantages of being in a great program, fourth largest city, with a NBA team, and no state income tax on NIL.
Methinks this board is selling Jackson way too short.
