2026 recruiting, 2026 roster - eligibility

Yeah, Ramon will definitely get minutes, especially in the early season. He can shoot OK, he’ll be where he’s supposed to be on defense, and he’ll probably rebound better than the other guards. I can see him potentially getting early-season Mylik minutes, and he’ll probably make the difference in a win somewhere along the line.

I disagree with this sentiment that Walker is some scrub who can’t find his way onto the court. He’s averaged 14.5 mins/gm (73 games) in his career here, but all of a sudden he won’t get playing time in his super senior season?? Add that to the fact that Coach Samp purposely shut Ramon down this year in an attempt to have him qualify for a medical RS. Coaches won’t do that for a guy with the sole intent of him being a practice squad all star.

No scrub. Just that our talent level is so high compared to when he got recruited out of HS.

At this point we know what he is a hard nosed player who lacks skill & some athleticism but its a fan favorite among our fans.

My thoughts exactly. Assuming Isaacs starts, I can easily see Walker assuming Mylik’s role as a reliable 6th man

Ramon is not a scrub, but next year’s roster has so much more skill and talent than Ramon, It is what it is.

Keep in mind that Ramon was a 4 star recruit himself. He’s played in, & produced, in a ton of high stakes games for us over the years. Without him & Mylik, we don’t win the Big 12, nor do we make it to the Sweet 16 last season. I understand we have some highly touted frosh coming in, but ateotd, they’re still freshmen & they WILL make freshmen mistakes. As we learned against Duke & Purdue, experience matters! I’m not saying those kids won’t play much (bc that would be stupid), but I am saying y’all should put more respect on Ramon’s name.

Yeah but those injuries throughout his career especially the early ones have knock his confidence down and hasnt been the same player who show promise at Shadow Creek. Still a nice guy to have around to teach the young guys the culture & help them get acclimated with school.

No way he cracks next season’s UH 8 man rotation when we face some of our tougher opponents unless we have a couple injured players because the team has too many wings i think coach would play before RW.

Yep. People thinking he won’t see the floor haven’t been paying attention. Plus, the dude is 6’5" 215 and can dribble - he’ll be able to do some of the things that we were looking for from TA.

My only concern is whether he rediscovers his shooting stroke. It looked like he was there before he got hurt this year, but he has to be able to make open shots, because he’ll get 'em.

It IS what it is. Ramon will be playing his 6th year under Coach Samp. He hits the ground running! The freshmen are gonna have a bit of catching up to do no matter how you slice it. We’ve literally seen what Ramon brings to the table in big moments (on a collegiate level). He knows his assignments, he’s aggressive on defense, tough, a capable 3pt shooter, he’s Sharpe’s bff lol, and most importantly, he plays with more grit than anyone on the roster not named Mylik Wilson. He’s everything Coach Samp wants in a player

I hear you. I’m just saying that Coach Samp isn’t keeping him around for morale or p2p coaching. He’s gonna play… a lot

Not a lot only if UH has injuries, blowouts & spark the team role will he really play. Thats if hes eligible.

I fully believe TA only played the small ball 4 bc Ramon was hurt. The haters can argue with a mirror lol

I guess we’ll see

This isn’t complicated. Tugler, Uzan and Sharp all start again if they all return. Cenac comes in day 1 and is expected to start just like Jarace did. The last starter is Isaacs or Harwell take your pick but I expect Isaacs to start if healthy and him, Sharp and Harwell to mix and match with each other throughout the game at the 2 and 3 spots somewhat interchangeably. Flemings comes in when Milos goes out and McFarland, Sakho, and Lath will compete to be the go to big off the bench.

That’s an 8 man rotation right there. Coach will likely go deeper in the out of conference blow out wins that we have on our schedule but minutes are going to be extremely competitive when we get into the heart of our schedule if everything goes right (guys stay healthy, freshman come in ready to play, etc). One of the other guys like Mercy Miller or Ramon might come in this offseason with their hair on fire and force their way into a larger role with great play but someone unexpected will have to be beaten out.

I don’t disagree. I think we will see either Chase or Ramon getting Terrance’s minutes. Offense vs defense decision on the small ball big

With Coach Samp prioritizing defense, Ramon has the edge

idk if he plays but as long as we see the 21-22 level confidence from him he should be pretty good off the bench

That spot comes down to Walker, McCarty, & possibly Mercy as well. Out of that bunch, I can’t see Roman losing that battle given his experience, defense, & rebounding ability.

As long as he doesnt get injured again maybe he can surprise us on offense.

Harwell at 6-6 may play some SF too.
