Rivals VP saying it’s likely between Florida and Oklahoma. Figured OU was in the lead. Hope it’s Florida if not us.
We look pretty stacked as far as skilled positions from the hs ranks go. I would like to start working on defense a bit more.
I think there was the option of playing Groce at CB. Hope we have some luck with Lakeyleon, who will likely do the same.
He probably wanted to play wr then.
He was having last min convos with both schools. Florida clearly paid a nice NIL

Rather Florida over OU if not us. OU completed with us for recruits, so is they’re not good then it helps us. Although it frees up their NIL to go after other guys we may be chasing as well.

Florida’s starting QB, D.J. Lagway, is from Willis, TX, and recruited and offered by UH.
UH is at a point where they can realistically recruit athletes sought by state flagship universities. We are not there yet, but compared to 5 years ago, UH is moving in the right direction.

What can our recruiting department learn from this?
Let’s not make this more complicated than it is. You have a good head coach who can also recruit. Facilities are up to par. Fourth largest city with lots of entertainment options. Subpar fan support. The biggest differentiator is NIL. It is for the recruits that say “show me how much you love me”.
The fact that UH was in the final 4 with Groce is a positive sign. Groce is from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and UH has struggled recruiting North Texas for years. In the age of college football free agency, if Groce is driven by NIL, UH may have another shot at him next year. Even if Groce committed to UH, there is a likelihood that he would be a free agent next year, especially if he blows up his freshman year. With the SEC media machine behind him, his second year value will skyrocket.

We have 16 recruits so far. We need to have a “barometer” like we did with the basketball recruiting.

I don’t know but I heard we had a gazillion NIL $$$$’s in football, basketball and even baseball….can’t believe we couldn’t match.

Had to be NIL. Couldn’t have been to play for Florida, in the Sec, with all Those championship banners and whatnots.
