There’s a difference between seeing it online and being there in person.
I’m not doubting a word you say…
…but I can’t understand why a bonafide 4-star, UnderArmor All American would be told that simply because he was injured?
Goes back to what I said earlier, my son was an athlete playing wr. He played every position in hs so the prior regime knew they were going to have to perfect his craft. CWF and company wanted to win right now and didn’t want to take the time to develop him.
Previous regime had a plan for him and when they were let go, the plan changed. That’s why you see a lot of kids especially skill kids leave. When the plan or scheme changes, then you are no longer a priority.
I think MHP was raw and still trying to find which position to play in college.
Correct
Was the plan from Dana to play receiver here? I thought I saw him as a safety at Tech?
I think if MHP came along in the 2026 class, Willie would be all over him. He just didn’t have the time to let him figure it out when he started. And it sucks.
Willie has recruited multiple guys that play both side of the ball this class. Big one being Paris Melvin. I think the timing was just off.
Yes he was going to play slot here at Houston. Tech liked him at WR but was full at the postion but said they would love to have him at safety. Me personally, safety was his best position at the next level but I respected my son’s decision of what he wanted to do at the collegiate level.
Makes sense. Hope he gets his shot. If there is one spot that could use some playmaking at Tech, it is in the DB room. Hopefully they keep him there and let him develop. He has all the tools to be really good at this level.
Thank you! The good thing is he’s finally healthy and crazy enough, he still has 3 years left after this. RS, should get a medical RS from last season, and now he’s finally healthy.
I’m assuming MHP can apply for a medical redshirt if needed? So, should have 3 years of eligibility left after this season? If he needs it?
We typed that at the same time. That’s what I thought. Some kids just take longer. Especially if not focused on one position. I’ll be rooting for him. And hopefully he still has love for the Cougars.
Will root for him. Except when playing Houston. Haha
Yessir, he’s a great kid just living out his dreams. It was weird going to the Houston game with Tech gear on but hey, I’m loyal to Houston but my son is top priority!
Thanks.
I know this was probably difficult for him, and for you. I recall this topic being discussed on this MB a while back and I didn’t follow it all that closely.
But appreciate your replying. You didn’t have to, but you did. Probably best to let it go. The “no hard feelings” demeanor you portray is admirable.
In the long run, it sounds like it’s working out pretty well for everyone anyway.
Again, best wishes to you and your Family.
Go Coogs; and Go Mikal !

Great Dad !
Damn
That’s wild considering the depth issues we’ve faced. I wish him the best going forward
Hey Chris. My friend of 30+ years has a son at TT. Eddy Smith. He’s almost being pushed out after being a prized signing in the 2024 class, since TT went and paid for that portal class this year. She tells me the stories, so I understand where you’re coming from.
Nate
Nate, channel 2 sports tonight repeated something they said the other day. When talking about Katy running back Hill, they said he is committed to UH, but I don’t see him listed on the commit digest’s list. Can you clarify that?
Perhaps he can transfer back to UH if the opportunity presents itself?
